marketing: Using Content from PLR Articles on your Blog or Site - 01/23/07 09:18 PM
Many of you know that I subscribe to Michael Campbell’s Internet Marketing Secrets newsletter. Yes, I know that the newsletter is full of affiliate ads, and sometimes reads like an advertisement… but there is some really good stuff in there. Last year we posted an article on marketing on youtube that was sparked by one of Michael’s newsletters. In his most recent article, he talked about the “200 page challenge” . It was just a personal challenge, and didn’t really have any real significance, but his method intrigued me. He takes PLR (Private Label Rights) articles, and re-writes them with his

marketing: Second Life - Is it a Viable Real Estate Economy? - 12/04/06 09:20 AM
I've been meaning to write about this for a long time... Have you heard of Second Life yet? Here is a link that will help: wikipedia. It is basically a MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game), with a few differences. 2L(second life) gives you ultimate creativity to do and create almost anything you want. The primary difference with 2L is the ability to own the items you create. This includes real estate. Once you purchase property on 2L and build on it, you own the structure, and the design. From their site: "Land in Second Life is

marketing: Is Mobile Technology a Useful tool in the Hands of a Successful Agent... Or is it Overkill? - 11/29/06 09:59 AM
Via PRweb I read an interesting press release about Casey Margenau Re/Max's #1 agent worldwide for 5 years straight. It caught my eye because it's always helpful to look at the best agents to get marketing ideas and inspiration. Casey just recently started using a service called mobilepricecheck.com. Here's how it claims to work: Stick a sign in your yard with a toll free 800 number. The "drive by" customer can call this number and enter a special code that is specific to each listing. Then they receive a text message telling them more about the listing. The agent receives an email report giving

marketing: Active Rain Groups are Awesome!! - 11/29/06 02:14 AM
I was so excited when I heard about the new group feature release Sunday night. I thought it would be a great opportunity to meet new people and be able to filter blog posts for content. I was all set Monday night to set up my group centered on internet marketing when Tuesday hit... I was just swamped all day. When I logged on later in the day, to my dismay I discovered that there were groups with 40+ members already!! Sheesh. I dropped the ball. I'm not sure if anyone else noticed this, but I've started seeing a strange phenomenon with

marketing: vFlyer.com Co-Founder Aaron Sperling Responds - 11/27/06 01:20 PM
One more update... Here are some comments made by Aaron after this was posted: ------------------ When you are editing a vflyer, there is a link to the Photo Editor. On that screen, you can upload one main photo and up to 24 gallery photos. As you browse, select an image and upload from the lower entry area, it will continue to add photos. By the way, from the “Advanced Contact Settings” link, you can upload an Agent photo, logo, and reference the Realtor association logo. If a user goes to a postlets and clicks on “Powered by postlets”, the user is sent

marketing: Postlets.com - vs. - VFlyer.com - 11/27/06 01:35 AM
----------------------------------------------------------- Update post on vFlyer: vFlyer.com Co-Founder Aaron Sperling Responds ----------------------------------------------------------- There has been quite alot of talk about VFlyer lately with their new release of services specifically tailored to real estate. I thought it would be useful for the AR community to do a full rundown and comparison of the two different free services and let you decide which one to use. One thing is for certain, if you aren't using one of these services already to promote you're listings... you're missing out big time. Here is a comparison Chart: Let me know if there is anything I

marketing: Review of Pubcon and some Predictions by Randfish of SEOmoz.org - 11/21/06 11:07 AM
One of my favorite SEO/Webmaster blogs is SEOMoz.org. The content these guys put out is outstanding. The founder: Randfish recently posted on the pubcon 2006, and based on some of the things he learned, he made some predictions for the next 6 months. (You'll even notice a mention of Zillow, which shows me the reach and impact it has made in the seo/webmaster world) Here are the ones I thought were most interesting with my comments below: Google's Webmaster Central will offer full link information about your site (like the old link command before they broke it) *I'm curious to see

marketing: Marketing on YouTube? - 11/16/06 03:49 PM
I just read a really interesting piece through a newsletter subscription that I have through Internet Marketing Secrets. It's SEO buff Michael Cambell's weekly newsletter. He's always been big on affiliate marketing, and adsense revenue strategies through solid SEO techniques. I used to be a big time SEO geek that would read anything I could get my hands on, but lately I've been so busy, my affiliate marketing side business has been at a stand still. But something about Michael's newsletter hit me... maybe it was the title: "1,200 New Visitors in 7 days, all treat, no tricks" ...I read

marketing: Hittail.com: a Revolution in SEO - 10/16/06 07:17 PM
I found a great site recently... forgive me if you already knew of it's existence. I was absolutely thrilled when I found it. There are many services out there that can assist you with finding niche keywords. The purpose in finding niche keywords is to weed out the competition from the more popular keywords, and rank high for very specific targeted keywords because of lack of competition. For example: you may commonly target your website for the keyword: Dallas real estate. Well, you may discover that your site ranks very poorly for this keyword because of the extreme amount of competition.

marketing: More Useful Tools Recently Released by Google - 10/05/06 04:56 PM
Since I'm on a Google kick today... I thought I'd mention a couple more tools that Google recently came out with: 1. Add widgets to your website. (or as Google calls them: "gadgets") This is my favorite, and is especially useful for the person that wants to add all kinds of cool tools onto their website with minimal effort. There are over 1,200 of them, and they range from stock tickers, to news aggregators, to mini games. With a simple cut and paste, you could be playing a mini game of pacman on your homepage. There are so many options with this

marketing: Do You Ping Your Blogs? - 10/05/06 04:17 PM
"pinging" in the context of blogging is a way to tell the different websites that compile blog posts that you have added new content to your blog. This would include sites like technorati or feedburner, and other similar blog post aggregators. In the way of an update on my post earlier today about the new Google Blog Search Tool, Google just announced today that they will allow you to ping them with your blog's URL address if it is not already included in thier index. First you may want to do a search on the Google Blog Search tool to

marketing: How to Scope out a Competitors Website -- And Learn From it! - 09/22/06 01:59 PM
It's always fun and interesting to check out what your competitors are up to. When you type in a search for your keywords, who comes up? Are your competitors ahead of you or below you? Why? Do you know what kind of traffic they get? Do you know how many links are coming into their site? These are all important questions to ask. In order to be competitive in the online world, you have to know the strategy of your opponent. Here are a list of some things you can do really KNOW your competitor: 1. First of all, you must

marketing: "Sorry, I Don't Show Property in that Zip Code." Grrrr..... - 09/20/06 01:55 AM
Hehe... this was a comment that just got too long, so I'm turning it into a post since I have alot to say on the subject. Thanks to Jonathan Dalton for his post that go my writing juices flowin'. What do agents have against doing business outside of their normal market area?? I talk to agents everyday that will not any under circumstances handle a market that is outside of their "pre-defined" area. It drives me crazy sometimes. I'll be trying to give them a referral and they will say something like: agent: "I'm sorry, that is just too far away" me: "Look, I can

marketing: Affinity Marketing - Where to Draw the Line - 09/20/06 01:25 AM
I may step on a few toes here, so I apologize in advance...How do you feel about affinity real estate networks? There are many out there (including ours). I like to call them affinity groups because they focus on a niche group of people that have particular interests. In the case of our model, many people would say that religion and business just don't mix. But that's just the thing, we really aren't trying to mix them. The ultimate goal is simply to help as many people as possible with their real estate needs, and we happen to market to a very

marketing: Do you Pay for Search Engine Positioning? - 09/19/06 11:53 AM
As a followup to my post earlier today, I wanted to write about the ins and outs of paying to have your website listed in the search engines. I haven't met too many individual real estate agents that use pay per click, but the ones that do seem to do pretty well if they know what they're doing. When you visit a popular search engine like Google or Yahoo, you'll notice that the first few results for a search are usually in a special box called sponsored links. The advertisers in this section are paying every time a person clicks on their

marketing: Microsoft's new Pay Per Click Service on Live.com - 09/19/06 10:00 AM
I just received a gift card from Microsoft for $30! It is definitely the first time I've ever received anything free from 800 lb. Gorilla software giant in Redmond...We just started on their new pay per click service about 4 months go. It's called Adcenter and it seeks to turn some profit for Microsoft. The only problem is, they are about 7 years too late. Google has all but cornered the search engine market with 70-80% of all searches. Our budget for Google is close to $1,500/month, and using the same keywords, our budget on Adcenter is only about $15. So far,

marketing: How to add Subscription links to Your Active Rain Posts - 09/17/06 01:28 AM
Ok, I've been getting this question alot lately... "Justin, what are those links at the bottom of all your posts??" In case you haven't noticed, they look like this: del.icio.us | Digg it | Furl | Technorati | Spurl | Yahoo They are at the bottom of every article that I write. They are links to add that particular post to a favorites list. Well, sort of... each one of the above services is a little different. del.icio.us is an online bookmarking site Digg is a site that lets you submit articles and blog posts for people to vote on.Furl is a combination of both of

marketing: Follow-Up Post on Building Incoming Links to Your Site - 09/15/06 11:03 AM
I received quite a few questions about attaining incoming links after my last article... so I will try to clear a few things up. I don't want to get into a complete SEO discussion as there is so much more involved that just incoming links. I enjoy SEO consulting, but hung that hat up a few years ago when our real estate business took off.It seems like there is some confusion about Meta tags and what they are used for. Back in the 90's this was a good tactic to get a solid ranking in the search engines since the SE
