search engine marketing: Interesting Blogging & Search Engine Statistics - 05/16/08 10:02 AM
Here are some fun search engine and blogging statistics I pulled up. I like doing this about once a year to see what is going on in the search space to see if there are any trends I’m missing. Blogging Statistics
* 28% of all visits to blogs in 2007 resulted in some kind of action (email signup, contact form, etc.)
* There are currently about 15.5 million active blogs (blogs updated within 90 days)
* Total blogs tracked by technorati: 74 million

I got an email about a week ago from Mike Levin (the creator), talking about the new “plus” service they are now offering:

These are some of the biggest mistakes I have seen people make when trying to optimize their websites to rank well in the search engines…
1. Bad titles. Titles are literally the first thing that search engine spiders see when they look at your website, and often your customers too. They are a great way to tell a search engine what your page is all about, and they play a significant role in ranking if used properly. Place your keywords in the title, but don’t go overboard. Here is an example of a good title for a page optimizing for Phoenix … (34 comments)
