yelland: Lealand Heights home by Derry Bros. for sale - 08/07/08 05:34 PM
I want to say that I want to find the buyers for the following Derry, Weaver & Derry homes.  I believe in "The Secret" and I want to put this out there that I would like to find these buyers. Built in the 1920s, The Cherry City tract features storybook Tudors … (2 comments)

yelland: The Original Theta Chi Chapter House near UC Berkeley by W.R. Yelland - 04/17/08 06:05 PM
I have been looking long for this photo of the original Theta Chi Chapter House at U.C. Berkeley.  This was the one designed by William Raymond Yelland. Yelland was the designer for Normandy Village and Beckett's Irish Pub.
It was located on LeConte just North of the campus near Normandy Village.  It was torn down in order … (0 comments)

yelland: Bee Renovated hits a "Home Run" - 04/03/08 02:48 PM

A while ago I blogged about how W.R. Yelland's very own home which was a foreclosed property and in dire need of someone to rescue it from it's very distressed state.  The home located at 829 Coventry in Kensington, done in Cape Cod style which was rare for Yelland.  He was … (0 comments)

yelland: Could this little non-descript 1920's industrial building be a Yelland? - 03/31/08 01:53 PM
There I was, on the Tuesday broker's tour for Alameda looking at the listing at 1821 Broadway (one of my clients had shown some fleeting interest in that property).  This little home is near the corner of Broadway and Clement.
Across the street on the Northeastern corner of Clement and Broadway there it … (0 comments)

yelland: Churches by William Raymond Yelland - 01/21/08 03:09 PM
Not everyone knows that WR Yelland designed churches and funeral parlours too.
Clarksburg Community Church. Located just South of Sacramento California in the Delta town of Clarksburg California, this church is at the heart of the community.  This design is classic Yelland through and through. One of his most distinguishing design features … (0 comments)

yelland: a productive after hours - 01/14/08 03:01 PM
I had a slow but productive open house at 857 Alma Place this sunday. Good quality homebuyers some pre-approved and some heading that way.
It was quite interesting to note that I got busiest after the posted 5pm closing time.  I had just finished closing up the second floor when a family … (0 comments)

yelland: Where's my high school buddy Liz R.? - 12/26/07 03:43 PM
I'll put this out the Internet.
Here's a blog posting for the San Leandro Group.
Back in early 1980s when I was attending San Leandro high school, one of my best friends was Liz R.  Over 25 years later little does she know that she holds the key to confirming that … (4 comments)

yelland: No Open house today...too close to Christmas - 12/23/07 03:12 PM
Here I am sitting in the office on a Sunday afternoon.  2 days before Christmas 2007.  It's a sunny day here in Alameda California.  A good day to blog.
I didn't want to do an open house this close to Christmas, I wanted to give it a break.  I have been showing … (3 comments)

yelland: Normandy Village, Berkeley California - 12/19/07 06:27 PM
This is one of my favorite places.  Believe it or not this is Berkeley California and not Normandy France.  This was originally an apartment complex designed by William Raymond Yelland for Col. Jack Thornburg (A Student at U.C. Berkeley) after World War i.
The original concept would have been to have had … (4 comments)

yelland: Before Eichler: Early 40s Modernism by Yelland and Carter Sparks - 12/07/07 12:33 PM

The above illustration appeared in the November 20th, 1941 edition of the Oakland Tribune.  Because of the date two weeks before Pearl Harbor and the outbreak of World War II.  It is doubtful whether this exact building was ever built.
However, the homes in Alameda's Southshore neighborhood appear to share architectural DNA … (0 comments)

yelland: Yelland Expedition - 12/04/07 07:23 PM
Okay, where I left off we were in Oakland's Lakeshore Highlands with two Yellands on one street.
If we go back up into the hills into the Piedmont Pines neighborhood we will come across the Hildreth Residence.  It was featured in Sunset Magazine for being a unique use of a down … (2 comments)

yelland: Off and Running - 12/01/07 04:40 PM
Okay,
Here goes my first blog entry on ActiveRain.
So I guess this is where I get to tell you about myself.... How boring is that.  I would rather talk about houses and Real Estate.
I am a huge fan of what has become known recently as "Storybook Style" homes.  This term came about … (0 comments)
