bullitt county: Guess who's photos are in the Louisville Courier-Journal? - 02/12/09 10:43 PM
Imagine my surprise as I scanned through my Bullitt County Google Alerts this evening and stumbled across, "I found these photos of snow storm damage in Bullitt County on Flickr.com. They were taken by Eric Hitzelberger, who writes on a Bullitt County real estate blog." My broadband connnection seemed painfully slow as the page loaded. Needless to say, I was very pleased to see the Courier-Journal website pop-up. Bullitt Beat author Emily Hagedorn posted an article detailing how to dispose of tree limbs etc from the ice storm and used a few of MY photos to accompany the piece. I posted these pictures to my Flickr account

bullitt county: Photos and Info from the Ice Storm in Louisville - 01/29/09 12:52 AM
Virtually the entire state of Kentucky was hammered by snow and ice over the last two days. The storm left over 500,000 people without power for what may be up to 10 days. In the Louisville area, over 100,000 do not have electricity tonight. Jefferson County schools have been called off for the rest of the week and most surrounding counties are expected to do the same. Our power was restored early this afternoon and I was able to venture out to get a few pictures and see how Bullitt County held up. I-65 and most main roads were fairly clear,

bullitt county: Bernheim Forest in the Fall - 11/11/08 11:19 PM
What a difference a few weeks makes! Two weeks ago, we took the kids to Bernheim Forest and let them play on the playground. At the time, it was still 75-80 degrees and the leaves had just started to turn. Now, it is too cold for the kids to go play, but a trip to Bernheim is seldom disappointing. To get to Bernheim Forest, take I65 south from Louisville to Exit 112. Turn left at the top of the ramp. Bernheim is about 1 mile ahead on the right. See Also: Spend a Day in Berheim

bullitt county: Ike Sucker Punches Louisville - 09/15/08 10:08 AM
I'm not sure what meteoroligists in the Louisville Metro Area were saying last night but, it should have been, "OOPS." With little warning, the remnants of Hurricane Ike combined with a cold front to deliver a massive blow to Louisville residents in particular and LGE in specific. Predicted 20-30 mph gusts showed up as 60-70 mph gusts and the resulting windstorm left 280,000 people without power last night. While most of the damage was limited to downed trees and power lines, tragedy did strike. A 10-year old boy was killed by a falling limb and over 25 house fires were started as a result of the fallen power lines. My

bullitt county: Spend a day in Bernheim Forest - Bullitt County Kentucky (KY) - 07/22/08 11:53 AM
If you are looking for Things to Do in Bullitt County, I strongly suggest that you spend a day in Bernheim Forest. Actually, there is so much to do and see in Bernheim Forest that one day isn't sufficient. You could spend weeks enjoying the scenary, cycling, hiking, fishing, picnicing, and learning. At $5 per car on the weekends it is a great place to take your family and spend quality time together. (It is FREE during the week). When is the last time that your children got to see deer, rabbits, geese, and hundreds of other animals in the wild.
