shepherdsville: Divorce is an Option - 06/29/09 10:18 PM
The beginning of a relationship is always exciting. Deciding what to reveal and what to hold back. Becoming less reserved as we figure out that our personalities align. Sharing hopes and dreams knowing we can achieve them together. And finally, forming a union to do just that. Unfortunately, not all unions are perfect. Despite our best intentions, one side or the other ends up feeling neglected, let-down or, even worse, deceived. Sometimes these feelings are valid. Sometimes they are the result of misperception. Either way, the problem must be solved quickly. If avoided, it will fester and grow. Taking on a

shepherdsville: Photos and Info from the Ice Storm in Louisville - 01/29/09 12:52 AM
Virtually the entire state of Kentucky was hammered by snow and ice over the last two days. The storm left over 500,000 people without power for what may be up to 10 days. In the Louisville area, over 100,000 do not have electricity tonight. Jefferson County schools have been called off for the rest of the week and most surrounding counties are expected to do the same. Our power was restored early this afternoon and I was able to venture out to get a few pictures and see how Bullitt County held up. I-65 and most main roads were fairly clear,

shepherdsville: Recycling in Shepherdsville - How, Where, and Why - 12/05/08 11:00 PM
If you live in Shepherdsville and would like to recycle, there are a couple of different ways to go about it. The easist and most convenient is to call Eco-Tech (935-1130) and have them pick it up at the curb. They charge $5.00 / month for this service. Alternatively, you can take everything to the 'recycling center' on South Preston beside the stockyards. There is no cost and you do not have to separate anything. With a little more effort, you can give your aluminum cans to a worthy cause such as the youth program at Divine Savior Lutheran Church.

shepherdsville: Corn Chips and Sunsets - 11/18/08 06:31 PM
As the weather turns colder, certain foods become more appealing. One of my favorite cold-weather dinners is chili. My wife makes killer chili and I love to top it with shredded cheese and corn chips. While the cheese is optional, the Fritos are not. She gave up questioning this years ago and now includes corn chips on the grocery list just assuredly as she does hamburger. For whatever reason, today was the exception. She called stating that she forgot to get Fritos at the store and asked that I grab some on my way home. As a result of the detour, I ended up leaving Kroger as the sun

shepherdsville: Shepherdsville News ~ The Train Cars are Finally Gone! - 11/17/08 10:53 PM
After almost 2 years, the remnants of the train wreck between Shepherdsville and Brooks have finally been cleaned-up. The 8' high green fence that bordered 1020 is down and the cars have been removed. Like many, I drive that road virtually every day and had grown so accustomed to seeing the wreckage that I was wondering whether CSX was going to create some sort of museum on the spot. I'm fairly certain that I have never been so pleased to see an empty lot as I was last week. The train is gone, but evidence of the fire still

shepherdsville: Bullitt County Homes~ Lotus Pointe ~ Luxury Shepherdsville Homes - 10/07/08 06:56 PM
Lotus Pointe is a secluded subdivision offering beautiful homes on large lots. Most of these 3-5 acre lots are wooded and provide a park-like setting. In fact, very little separates this neighborhood from Bernheim Forest. Seeing deer, turkeys, etc from your deck is common. If you like country settings, make sure you check out this these Shepherdsville homes. Luxury homes in Lotus Pointe have 4-5 Bedrooms and 2 1/2-3. Since the lots are so large, these homes typically have fewer custom amenities than similar priced homes in St Andrews Crossing or Heritage Hills. However, fireplaces, whirlpool tubs and hardwood floors are common. These 1800-3200

shepherdsville: Trash Pickup in Shepherdsville - 10/06/08 09:22 AM
If you live in the Shepherdsville city limits, you have probably been wondering why someone left you a green Eco-Tech trash-can. We received our can rather unceremoniously last weekend. There was no note of explanation or introductory letter, just a large green can sitting at the end of the driveway. Due to the timing of the delivery, my first thought was that this was for yard debris from the wind storm. While driving through neighborhoods last week, I noticed that my opinion was shared. However, no one came to remove the cans so I decided to call and find out exactly what was going

shepherdsville: Brooks Hill Winery - Local Business Profiles in Bullitt County KY - 08/13/08 08:37 AM
When most people think of Bullitt County Kentucky and alcohol, they think of bourbon (or possibly moonshine). Certainly, the Beam family has made a lasting impression on the area. But Mike Hatzell is trying to prove that Bullitt County can produce a drink for the for refined palette as well. Based on his recent successes, Mike is well on his way to accomplishing that task. A former attorney and long-time amateur wine-maker, Hatzell turned pro when he and his wife purchased 30 acres in Brooks a few years ago. The Hatzell's and winemaker Butch Meyer combined vision with hard-work and dedication and now have a working winery. Brooks Hill Winery,

shepherdsville: Lowes Opens in Shepherdsville Kentucky (KY) - 07/28/08 11:35 PM
In case you are not aware (and judging from the parking lot this evening, you aren't) Lowes has opened in Shepherdsville. The new location is on the Adam Shephard bypass. I, for one, am particularly excited as getting to this new location requires driving about 5 miles less and avoiding at least 10 less redlights on Preston Highway. In general, the new location is setup the same as almost any other Lowes. However, the tool department is more streamlined. Also, I noticed a virtual color system in the paint department. This allows you to select a room and then see what

As one of the 2 largest cities in Bullitt County, we expect the statistics from Shepherdsville to mirror those for the county as a whole. In general, this is the case and the conclusions from the chart are similar. Buyers: For those of you who are ready and capable to purchase a Shepherdsville
