ethics: WHAT'S EXPECTED? THE GOOD REALTOR AGENT - 09/09/08 11:40 AM
There are some very good Realtors and real estate agents out there ... who always seem to be involved with helping their friends and clients. When hiring a Realtor agent to help you buy your next home ... or help you sell your home and property ... you should find one to trust ... and one who listens to what you have to say. The Realtor should be able to go the extra mile to help make your purchase or sale appear to be smooth. This agent should help you set aside the emotion of the situation and be objective.

ethics: Ask Whether Your Business or Company Implements Its Ethics and Values - 04/13/08 09:46 AM
It's true that most every business or company will tell you that they have and believe in values and high ethical standards. You need to dig deeper and ask how they implement those values. Ask what they do to reinforce them. Ask whether they have a plan or a program to instill and support these values. Find out about their response. Posted by Harrison K. ethics: Huntington Beach, CA, to Post U.S. Motto "In God We Trust" - 04/09/08 09:51 AM
Huntington Beach, CA, became the latest city in the state to display U.S. Motto "In God We Trust" at City Hall. This is a sign about patriotism and not religion. San Clemente, Westminster and Cypress, CA, have also adopted "In God We Trust" to be displayed. U.S. Congress adopted the nation's first official motto, "E pluribus unum" ("Out of many, one"), in 1782. In 1956, President Dwight Eisenhower and Congress changed it to "In God We Trust." We believe this is a good thing. What do you think?Posted by Harrison K. Long, Explore Group, April 9, 2008.

ethics: Josephson Institute of Ethics involved with U.S. Olympic Committee - 04/08/08 10:53 AM
It's good that Josephson Institute of Ethics will kick off the U.S. Olympic Committee's Olympic Ambassador Program program on "What It Means to Be an Olympian." Subsequent sessions will be held in various cities with goal to improve America's image abroad by training U.S. Olympic athletes headed to Beijing on the importance of Olympic ideals, sportsmanship, and exemplary behavior on and off the field. ethics: Coach Roy Williams is a Man With Class - 04/08/08 01:16 AM
Coach Roy Williams is a man with class and a true gentlemen. As men's basketball coach at North Carolina, he appeared for a news conference prior to their big game with KU last weekend and told everybody how much he loved Kansas, the school and the basketball program there and players involved. After his loss to KU several days ago, he appeared at today's NCAA championship game between KU and Memphis State and was interviewed. He wore a KU Tshirt and talked about being there with 9 of the players he had recruited for KU years ago. True class from the Coach. Rock

ethics: The Art of Life is to Show Your Hand - 04/03/08 06:14 PM
"The Art of Life is to show your hand. There is no diplomacy like candor. You may lose by it now and then, but it will be a loss well gained if you do. Nothing is so boring as having to keep up a deception." -- E.V. Lucas, 1868-1938, prolific British author Posted by Harrison K. Long, Explore Group, April 3, 2008

ethics: Credibility Is All We Have At The End of the Day - 04/02/08 12:28 AM
A journalist once said: "In our business, credibility is all we have at the end of the day. If you can't believe what's published in the newspaper, or the magazine, you move on. The lesson may be in how we think when we become the leaders. Too often, the best lesson of leadership - only by being last can you be first - is lost amid the power. Rocket scientists aren't the only ones who can pick out the people in the room acting better than the rest."[Source: Craig Reem, OC Metro magazine, July 2007].We agree.Posted by Harrison K. ethics: Bob Knight's hiring by ESPN Sends The Wrong Message for Kids and Young Athletes - 03/31/08 02:17 AM
Bob Knight's hiring by ESPN sports network sets a bad example for the kids and young athletes in this country. As basketball coach at Texas A&M and Indiana, he bullied his players, other coaches, referees, and sometimes fans, so many times over the years. I never heard him apologize to anyone for his misbehavior. He won lots of games and got famous being the tough guy. He apparently has a good PR man, got out of many jams, and now seems to be recognized by everyone. ESPN is showing our young people that it's good to be a tough guy and
