wrightstown: Santa Tours Wrightstown, PA - Courtesy of Lingohocken Fire Company - 12/17/08 01:11 PM
Once again, Santa (and perhaps Mrs. Claus if we're lucky), will be touring Wrightstown, Pennsylvania on December 20th, courtesy of the fabulous members of the Lingohocken Fire Company. You can find his tour schedule here. Seeing Santa come by on the fire truck is one of my favorite memories of Christmas as a child (ok, honestly, probably second to the PRESENTS). There is something just so exciting about the lights and sirens and the neighbors all clustered outside cheering. Last year, Santa's ride came to us as a surprise. We gave Santa, Mrs. Claus, and their helpers warm water and frozen Christmas

wrightstown: First Day of School at Wrightstown Elementary School - 09/02/08 09:44 AM
Ahhh, Summer. Swimming in the pool, day trips to the shore, and lazy afternoons suddenly turn to bored whining, sweaty kids, and fighting siblings mid- August. After a rushed two weeks of buying school supplies, getting haircuts, and yelling ... a lot ...we started school today. My younger son starts Kindergarten, and he finally admitted today, over his bowl of strawberries, "I'm a little nervous, but really excited." When I met them getting off the bus today at school, I could tell he was still a little nervous, but SO EXCITED. All the kids were so excited. Excited by their new

wrightstown: The Inspection Series - #5 The Septic Inspection - 06/20/08 07:53 AM
It's the discussion you've all been waiting for! Hold back your excitement, people, today we're talking about Septic Systems Fun! A septic system is an on-lot waste water disposal system, meaning everything that goes down a drain: kitchen sink, washer, showers, toilets, goes into the septic system in your back yard. A typical septic system is made up of a tank, distribution box, and drainage field. Waste water goes into the septic tank. Solids fall to the bottom, while any grease or oil floats to the top. The remaining liquid is sent into the distribution box, which then disperses it into

wrightstown: Why Wrightstown? Hortulus Farm & Nursery - 06/14/08 09:15 PM
Stunningly Beautiful. Those are the only words I have to describe the Hortulus Farm located on Thomspon Mill Road in Wrightstown. I wrote about it previously in this blog, but finally got a chance to take the tour today with a few girlfriends. Our fabulous guide Mary was extremely knowledgable and personable, and she trecked us through the fern and hosta lined woodland walks, the yellow garden, the herb garden, the pool (This is actually the pool! You can just make out some white lounge chairs towards the left of the pool.) and other beautiful gardens. Part of an original land grant

wrightstown: Why Wrightstown? The Village Library - 06/04/08 02:01 PM
As a die-hard Wrightstown, PA fan, I'm going to start a series on why you should move to Wrightstown. As a resident, I've got all sorts of goodies to share with you, but I'll start off with this one, because I was there this afternoon and remembered how great it is... The Wrightstown Village Library Seriously, how cute it this place? Located on Penns Park Road, right outside of the elementary school, this little library has an amazing amount of programs for such a tiny little building. Can you do a research paper from here? Probably not, although

wrightstown: Ah, Spring! Landscaping Dreams and Rural Delights... - 04/17/08 02:27 PM
It's gorgeous out today. I'm blogging from a back patio that I haven't seen since about September, and listening to the happy sounds of mowers and weed wackers. Spring yard cleanup may be the only time I look forward to manual labor. (I don't shirk it, but let's just say it ain't exactly my deal either!) I wanted to share with my readers this great find in Wrightstown, Bucks County:Hortulus Farm Nursery & GardensI am deeply ashamed to admit that, while I can walk to this hidden treasure, I've never taken a tour of the gardens. I need to. I have
