Virginia Tech had an opportunity to shine today and I feel they let down a big portion of the campus community.
Last year they set up VT Alerts- a system that sends emails, voicemails and texts to alert faculty, staff and students when there's something serious going on. This past summer they put LED screens in classrooms all over campus to alert us if anything bad happens on campus. I talk to my friends and sorority sisters who are graduating this May and most of them say they're worried about finding a job after graduation. I can say that's one good thing about the change in Congress- no one will be able to afford their house so they'll come to me to rent!
No one in my major is worried about getting a job. Instead we're talking about the lowest salary we'll accept. The general consensus is no lower than $50,000 because a) we're studying subjects and techniques most people in our industry don't even see until they are … (3 comments)

Everywhere you look there's an advertisement for something that's "green". Green has become a marketing genius in a time where people are scared of global warming (which I will refrain from commenting on) and rising energy prices. These rising energy prices are going to be especially hard on people's pockets with Obama and the handout-friendly Democrats running the country for the next four years.
There's green laundry and dishwasher detergent, green cars, green appliances (I'm personally a fan of Asko), green housing (we just took a field trip to an EarthCraft subdivision being built in Blacksburg)... everything is being pushed … (0 comments)

Surprise, surprise, a controversial blog about the election results!
 
I cry for the once great America, where hard work and personal responsibility were rewarded. Now we can look forward to our future generations being raised with an attitude of entitlement. My friends say, "But this is great for the working class! All those people up at the top that are making so much money, like $80,000 a year, need to pay up and help those who need it!"
