rpm: Why your kids should go to Virginia Tech - 02/12/09 02:41 PM

Your kid is a junior in high school. This summer you'll be college shopping if you haven't already started. You know nothing about Virginia Tech but it should be on your list. Why?

We've got history.  We were founded in Blacksburg, VA as Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College, a land-grant military school, in 1872. Aside from Texas A&M, we're the only other non-military school in the country that has all four branches of the military still represented. When we received accredidation in 1923, we droppped the four year Corps of Cadets requirement to two years. Today it is no … (10 comments)

rpm: You went to Vegas??? - 02/09/09 03:42 PM
I have returned to blogging, finally away from those awful things at school called final exams ::shudders:: (I've never been a good test taker. Why I can't just build something or write a paper...)
"You went to Vegas??" is the response I get lately when people ask where I've been (as if they weren't stalking me on facebook). No one in my major is worried about getting a job. Instead we're talking about the lowest salary we'll accept. The general consensus is no lower than $50,000 because a) we're studying subjects and techniques most people in our industry don't even see until they are … (3 comments)

rpm: VAMA Passport to Success Conference - 03/20/08 02:23 PM
I'm pretty sure everyone knows me from my mom's blogs, but if not my name is Kat Malone and I am a junior at Virginia Tech in the Residential Property Management program.  These past two days myself and two other students, Mike and Jessica, were chosen to represent the RPM program at the Virginia Apartment Management Association's (VAMA) Passport to Success conference in Richmond. We were invited by Renee Pulliam of S.L. Nusbaum, past president of VAMA. S.L. Nusbaum, who is on the RPM Advisory Board, paid for all of our expenses so we could make it to the conference. It … (13 comments)
