The location of Brown's Chapel in Reston is no longer the proposed site for a Rec Center designed to be run by Fairfax County Park Authority.  For months this site has been under consideration and on Thursday, July 23, 2009 the Reston Board voted 7-2 to eliminate it as a possible location. Fairfax County parks has been looking for a site to build a new recreation center for indoor swimming and tennis. There is a proposal to build a Fairfax County Recreation Center at Brown's Chapel, off of Baron Cameron Avenue in Reston, Virginia.
The new site, as proposed, would include indoor tennis and an indoor swimming pool, as well as a work-out facility and meeting rooms.  The recreation center would be part of the Fairfax County Parks, but the land would be Reston land.
The land at Brown's Chapel currently is the home of Reston Day Camps, has baseball fields, walking paths, running trails, a basketball court, a chapel that used both for services and community meetings and a tot lot. It … (2 comments)
