The City of Falls Church will be holding its annual 4th of July Fireworks this Sunday, July 4th, 2010 at George Mason High School. One of the many community events sponsored each year by the City, also known as the Little City, the fireworks celebration promises to be a fun-filled evening with spectacular fireworks, musical entertainment and food for sale. With July upon us, it is time to start figuring out your plans to celebrate Independence Day.  One of my favorite places to watch fireworks on the 4th is from a boat on the Potomac River. The Potomac provides an exceptional place from which to view the Fireworks from the National Mall in Washington D.C. The local PBS radio station plays classical music to accompany the display and you can hear it coming from all of the boats anchored on the river. If you haven't had the opportunity to do that, it really is a great experience.

This is a great time of year to attend local festivals and there are a couple of good ones coming up in June.
The weekend of June 8th and 9th, plan to attend the Celebrate Fairfax! at the Fairfax Government Center.  This festival is always well attended and has great headliner bands.  Some of the bands appearing this year include: OK Go, Bowling for Soup, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and Emerson Drive.
