The City of Carlsbad Police Department's volunteer program was established to support police department personnel in their activities of protection and service to the community.  The role of volunteers is to supplement the regular professional staff, freeing them to provide the best service possible to City of Carlsbad residents and visitors.  There are several ways to get involved in the local police department. By becoming a volunteer in police service, a person joins an elite team of volunteers working hand-in-hand with law enforcement to improve the city while giving something back to the community.

Local Vista, Ca Residences--City Turning Street Lights Off Come March 2011. - 11/12/10 11:00 PM
Come March 2011 the City of Vista, California will be turning the street lights off, property ownes can petition to pay extra for residential street lighting to remain on. Looking to save  the City $230,000 a year. Lights are schedule -- to go off on March 13, 2011, property owners will have the ability to submit a petition to the city to not turn the lights off on their street.

Local San Diego Horton Shopping Plaza Getting New Look. - 11/06/10 09:16 AM
Westfield Group proposed this week to demolish one of the original anchor deparment store buildings at the iconic Horton Plaza shopping center in San Diego and give the space back to the city for use as a 1.5 acres, Times Square type gathering space.
In return the city would cancel the last 25 years of a profit sharing agreement with Westfield--worth about $1.8 million this year and Westfield would maintain & manage the larger park for 25 years, holding at least 208 special events annually.

Local San Diego, Ca., Will Be Getting Credit Card Parking Meters. - 11/05/10 12:12 PM
San Diego will be getting new parking meters soon, which will accept credit cards and help with less parking tickets being issue.
These new meters will be curtesy of IPS group a San Diego based company that will convert the present parking meters to solar.
These new parking meters will give the person using the parking space a choice to either pay cash or credit. No longer looking for that pesky change, or having to hurry back to put more coins in.
