Residents in San Diego & North San Diego, California will have a chance to put a face to their neighbors and local law enforcement Tuesday (August 2, 2011) at the 28th annual National Night Out which will be marked by block parties a& community events throughout the San Diego community. Residents are invited to turn on their porch lights and go outdoors too mingle with neighbors and learn about ways to make their communities safer through demonstrations, information booths and meet and greets with local police. Community members are invited to turn on outside lights and plan a block party, potluck or ice cream social. Member of the Carlsbad Police Department will visit block parties and greet the community.

What Is A Carbon Monoxide Detector? California state law passed on 7-1-2011 requires homeowners to install carbon monoxide (CO) detectors in every California homes. So, what is a carbon monoxide detector? It is a relatively inexpensive device similar to a smoke detector that signals detection of carbon monoxide in the air. Under the law, a carbon monoxide device is "designed to detect carbon monoxide and produce a distinct audible alarm". Gov. Jerry Brown last week signed C.A.R.-sponsored bill SB 837 (Blakeslee), authorizing new disclosure language that will inform home buyers about new requirements for water efficiency.
A law passed in 2010 (SB 407 Padilla) requires all residential properties built before 1994 to be retrofitted with low-flow toilets, shower heads, and faucets by 2014 for remodels and by 2017 for all remaining pre-1994 homes. A new Ambulatory Surgery Center is coming to Kaiser in San Marcos Outpatient Medical Center.. Ground breaking this summer 2011, and expect to open the new facility in fall 2012. In the past North San Diego County residents with Kaiser had to travel to other Kaiser Permanente facilities or go to contract outpatient surgery centers.
