Gov. Jerry Brown last week signed C.A.R.-sponsored bill SB 837 (Blakeslee), authorizing new disclosure language that will inform home buyers about new requirements for water efficiency.   

A law passed in 2010 (SB 407 Padilla) requires all residential properties built before 1994 to be retrofitted with low-flow toilets, shower heads, and faucets by 2014 for remodels and by 2017 for all remaining pre-1994 homes.  The law also required that home buyers be informed of the mandate during real estate transactions.
