Local San Marcos, California swimming pools open for free swimming this Saturday May 26, 2012.
Las Posas and Woodland Park pools will open for summer swim hours starting Saturday.
The pools, run by San Marcos Community Services, Parks & Recreation Department, provide swimming and water play facilities.
The pools are open for recreational swimming daily, between 1 and 5:30 p.m. on weekends, and Monday through Friday from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m., starting Saturday, May 26. Entry for open swim is $3 per person.

Recent complaint's from parents claim that students are getting sick from dust. The San Marcos Unified School District has shut down a site used to sort debris from demolished San Marcos High Building after parents of an elementary school next to the property complained that their children were getting ill. I think we'll have to go back to Plan "B" and reassess what we're doing, said a representative from the San Marcos Unified School District to a group of parents who had gathered for an afternoon meeting.

The Vista Irrigation District (VID) uses three sources for your drinking water. The First one is local water, which originates from the watershed and well field located near Lake Henshaw in Santa Ysable. VID owns the 43,000 arcre Warner Ranch which encompasses the lake and monitors any activity that could contaminate it. Water from Lake Henshaw is transferred to Lake Wohlford via a canal originally constructed in the the 1890s.
