Wall murals a thing of the past or the furture of home staging ? - 03/26/10 07:59 PM
Home Harmony's girls took a well deserved day off today. We decided, being home stagers, that we should take in the Montreal Home Show (www.salonnationalhabitation.com) and stay on top of trends and find possible solutions for staging dilemmas we may encounter in the future.
The cost $15, a little steep for what I felt I got out of it. There were far too many central vacuum, roofing and brick distributors. There were however some beautiful bathroom and kitchens and hot tub displays. Not enough furniture companies for my liking and there were no stagers present. ( thought there would be at … (13 comments)

Hi Folks,
Remember this one a couple weeks back?

Yes, the Realtor notified us today that the 2 homes we Staged for her this month have sold! She wasn't a believer in home staging to start but I think the results have convinced her STAGING WORKS!
This home SOLD in 19 days for 97% and the second home Home Harmony staged ( for this Realtor) sold in 14 Days for 98.7% !!!!
I would like to thank Louise Garai, our regional manager/senior stager, for her … (6 comments)

Look What A Small Investment Can Do! - 03/20/10 12:38 PM
Not sure if any of you had a chance to see the stats that Monica included in her recent post.
They are proof and can aid in delivering the message to homeowners how important declutter, cleaning, painting and staging really are.
Take a look at the chart below. I say we should all have a printed copy to show potential clients (Believers and NON believers) what our services can do for them!
Would anyone know if there is a Canadian equivalent to this list ?

It's official .... SPRING is here! - 03/20/10 09:22 AM
Happy Days! It was just yesterday that I witnessed the Canadian geese returning home (how do they know?)
Checked the garden this morning, daffodils and tulips are up about 4 inches. I swear the snow was on the ground yesterday. Montreal, like other major cities across Canada is receiving warmer than usual temperatures, Montreal reached 14c for 3 consecutive days ... you won't hear me complaining  ... helps ease me into that cur$id Day light savings time.

I'm sure you have all heard the famous expression " In like a lion out like a lamb" ? Well I've still got … (12 comments)

Is that a HUNTER GREEN border I see? SOLD in 1 day! - 03/16/10 07:37 PM

Removing the clutter was key to making this space more pleasing.  Working with only what we could find on site we re-located 6 identical frames with bird pictures in them. They were hung randomly throughout the basement but we created an arrangement with them here in the living room.
It took 3 of us to move the piano but it was taking up far too much space where it was. We relocated just to the left in the picture where it is part of the room but fits nicely in the space.
Believe it or not, before we could provide … (12 comments)

Mutts on Monday - 03/15/10 10:16 PM

These are my pups Monty (4) and Jazz (2). They are not actually mutts they are a breed know as Havanese.
They play constantly and when they are not they are curled up together somewhere. Both are smaller than breed standards they may weight about 5 pounds a piece. They are a lovable entertaining breed ... that rarely  barks.

Countdown to St.Paddy's day ... Joke to share. - 03/15/10 07:24 PM

Three little boys were concerned because they couldn't get anyone to play with them....they decided it was because they had not been baptized and didn't go to Sunday School.
So they went to the nearest church. Only the custodian was there. One said, "We need to be baptized because no one will come out and play with us. Will you baptize us?"
So he took them into the bathroom and dunked their heads in the toilet bowl one at a time. He said, "Now go out and play."
When they got outside, dripping wet, the oldest one asked, … (2 comments)

END DAY LIGHT SAVINGS TIME ... is it just me? - 03/14/10 04:09 PM

When I was a little girl I never liked the idea of changing time forward or back.  As an adult I still don't!
My internal clock knows (very well) when it is time to eat and time to sleep.
The day is never ending and takes weeks for me to settle in.
I say let us put an end to this now ... STOP...  DAY LIGHT SAVINGS TIME !!!!!

FACTS:
Benjamin Franklin first conceived the idea that would become Daylight Saving Time during a 1784 post as an American delegate in Paris. It was similar to his oft … (11 comments)

Sunday Funnies ... A little Irish humor - 03/13/10 11:40 PM

John O'Brien hoisted his beer and said: "Here's to spending the rest of my life, under the sheets with my wife!"That won him the top prize at the pub for the best toast of the night! He went home and told his wife, Mary, "I won the prize for the best toast of the night."She said, "What was your toast?"John said: "Here's to spending the rest of my life, sitting in church beside my wife.""Oh, that is very nice indeed, John!" Mary said. The next day, Mary ran into one of John's drinking buddies on the street corner. The man chuckled … (7 comments)

How important is your email campaign to your business? Stagers and Realtors please weight in. - 03/12/10 03:49 PM
Well, I just completed another round of emails to 400+ agents. Each month I try to mail off some profound (sometimes subliminal) message that will hit home and have the agents flocking to us.
Although,  I will never get back the hours I spend in this office chair it is all worth it when the phone rings and  an agent wants our service..
We have had relatively good success with this method. When meeting a Realtor for the first time, we always hear those familiar words  " oh, you're the ones that send out those emails" ... it's an ice breaker … (20 comments)

REDESIGN ... also know as MAGIC! - 03/10/10 08:09 AM
Although, it's hard to get around the fact that this family room was just painted PINK, it is much more appealing now that we removed some hanging plants, the carpet and repositioned the furniture.
Originally, the sofa was blocking the entrance (room and front entrance) only because the owner "never thought" to put it on the angle facing the fireplace.
We did replace  (the VERY small art) over the fireplace with one we happen to have in my van. Not perfect but matched the sofa and tied in the existing colour.

While we were there performing the … (13 comments)

The BOLD and the BEAUTIFUL - Part 2 Photos. - 03/07/10 09:24 AM
Here are a few more spaces within this lovely home. In the family room we removed a couple of large book cases to free up some of the space and eliminate the visual distractions within the room.  Ideally the TV placed on the wall to the left forecorner would have fit nicely and worked well in this room (away from the fireplace) but it was just too difficult with cables, speakers and such to move.
We RE-PURPOPSED the rug from the living area to get the eye moving toward the fireplace and tie the room together.

The Bold and the Beautiful ... the photos you have been waiting for. - 03/04/10 07:37 PM
You may remember back in January Home Harmony took on this home. We were somewhat stumped with our limitations but managed to pull it off ... well with the owners and agents anyway. This Sunday will be the open house so we will see what effect it has on potential buyers.
We were able to tone things down a little by eliminating the distractions in each room. Although it may not show in the photos the home now has a better flow.

This was the ultimate in re-design projects. The art here is from the Dinning area as are the … (20 comments)

Golden results ... are you missing the Olympic games?. - 03/04/10 07:37 AM
Not sure what you have been doing since Sunday night but I am really missing the Olympics. I can't seem to remember what I did before the games. Here is what I have been up to the last night or two ... oh yeah I remember now,  I was busy soliciting agents with emails before the Olympics! ;o) In keeping with the spirit of the winter Olympic Games – Vancouver 2010, Home Harmony is equally proud to announce their own 2010 SOLD medals!
Yes, after years of hard work, Home Harmony's team has reached new heights. The recent relay race proved Harmony's team … (5 comments)
