advertising: One Phone Call, One Listing, Two Sales and a Whole Bunch of Blogs! - 11/19/10 11:51 PM

This past summer, a very special couple called from my print advertising   asking to see one of my condos.

They were just starting to think about "right sizing". I like that term better than down sizing.
We spent a day touring new and resale condominiums, including several HomeRome listings. There was some interest, however their home was not sold. One of the options discussed...
Do I Buy or Sell First ? Reverse Contingency

We listed their home  Summit Chase Townhouse-30 Stablemere Ct- Baltimore, MD. 21209  and we listed it with a reverse contingency.

So forget print advertising ?.... NOT at this time.
Internet Advertising Only? ..... I Think Not !

Call me old-fashioned, but I do both print media and Internet advertising. I know that not everyone who buys a house - or who is helping someone look for a house - is in their 30's. There is another generation and they do read newspapers, and they do need print ads. This generation includes people with lots of disposable income who are looking for nice homes. It also includes people with children and grandchildren who may need a new home, and these … (98 comments)

advertising: And My Street is Not Even Plowed! Baltimore is Not Just for the Birds! - 02/08/10 10:25 PM
When you are snowed in for 3 days and my street is not even plowed, you find things to amuse you. The absolute beauty is overwhelming. Look at the colors of this cardinal. Is this a perfect red, white and blue photo?      The reason I have two bird feeders with the same food.. the squirrels don't know these containers are squirrel proof. This little guy certainly does not look underfed. So what does this have to do with real estate? Why Advertising is For the Birds
And more beauty right outside my window..icicle sculptures and winter trees.
OK so there is a bit of work … (25 comments)

advertising: The CyberStars Were Shining in Virginia - 09/27/07 09:21 AM
When does it take almost 3 hours to drive 69 miles? When you are trying to get through Washington, DC rush hour traffic, of course. That was the way my day started last Wednesday as I headed from Baltimore to suburban Virginia for the CyberStars® Virginia Regional Summit. No pressure, of course, that I was crawling along and guaranteed to be late for the 9:00 a.m. start. Since I had agreed to do a short presentation on advertising, I was just hoping I wouldn't be late for that, too!
Thank goodness, Lee did the driving. At least I was able to … (15 comments)

advertising: Why Advertising is For the Birds in Baltimore - 07/10/07 10:41 PM
While visiting our friend and neighbor a couple of doors away, I noticed her tiny aviary...a couple of bird feeders and a birdbath. It was the end of May, and the area was loaded with an array of colorful singers.
It looked like a nice little hobby and I have the perfect spot...the big tree near my front porch and rocking chairs. I decided to get a feeder and found there were so many decisions - what type of feeder, what kind of birds do you want, what type food, what type of stand or hanger?
I started with one bird feeder. It … (57 comments)

 Do Not Forget Print Advertising!
A recent post seemed to take the position that anyone who spends money on print advertising is wasting money, and that those old-fashioned ads that stain your fingers may make the sellers feel good but they don't sell houses.
Call me old-fashioned then, but I do both print and Internet advertising. I know that not everyone who buys a house - or who is helping someone look for a house - is in their 30's. There is another generation and they do read newspapers, and they do need print ads. This generation includes people with lots of … (84 comments)
