blogging: As Agents We Love to Brag! - 07/28/11 10:22 PM
As agents we love to brag!  But how do you do it without sounding like a show off?

When I got my very first listing...my office manager put up a banner that read: 'Congratulations Margaret'.
That only happened once...they figured it was beginner's luck.  Little did they know!
How do we get that banner today?
We create it. We make it happen and blogging is a wonderful way to brag! I would rather call it sharing my success. It is a way to let others know we are good at what we do!
We do … (68 comments)

blogging: Blogging Update + Lunch - 06/29/09 11:06 AM
With almost 300,000 points, you would guess that I've been blogging for a while. So why would I go to a session on blogging that was aimed at beginning bloggers? Because I always learn something.
This was the third in a series of Lunch and Learn sessions on social media presented by Leah Messina of Sinuate Media for our Baltimore Regional Chapter of NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners.) Leah did a great job on the Facebook and Twitter sessions, and I wasn't disappointed with her presentation on blogging.
She covered the basics, of course – why you would want … (29 comments)

blogging: Tweeting or Blogging or Meeting Face-to-Face? Baltimore,Maryland - 06/04/09 08:43 PM
Tweeting or Blogging or Meeting Face-to-Face? Baltimore,Maryland
In the last week I've spent a lunch meeting learning about Twitter, I've been online for hours reading and communicating, and I've visited the annual publishing show in New York to find that most of the buzz was about the growth in ebooks and the influence of the Kindle on the world of books. Everywhere you go, people are texting and tweeting and blogging, often all sitting together and not actually talking to each other! Is this the future?
I don't believe so. Personal connections still make a difference whether you're talking about real … (68 comments)

blogging: "What Your Kids Never Told You About Social Networking..."Bring Your Soles! - 03/05/09 08:53 PM
Calling all agents from Maryland, DC, and beyond!
The Maryland/DC CRS chapter is inviting you to its general membership luncheon on March 18. This is a special because it open to ALL agents - not just CRS - and the subject matter is perfect for Rainers. blogging: Was It a Question? It was an Exclamation! - 12/03/08 10:02 AM

Remember the game we've all played where one person whispers something to another and that person whispers the message to another? By the time it gets through half a dozen people or more, the end version is nothing like the original.
Jeanean's post yesterday, Seth Godin Says the Individual Blog is Dead! and the more than 75 comments show that this same thing happens in blogging.
That all-important exclamation point changed the meaning completely, and people reacted as much to the punctuation as the words.
In his blog, "Death of the personal blog?" Seth was askingif the individual blog was … (43 comments)

blogging: Blogging about Talking about Blogging…Again - 03/16/08 08:45 PM
It was one of those lovely winter/spring days with just a light breeze and no need for a coat. The morning started off on a high note with a featured post by Brad Andersohn on Active Rain. Brad had written about my PowerPoint presentation the night before. Brad commented on my post about my upcoming presentation to the Women's Council of Realtors, then I commented on his comment, and before long we were on the phone brainstorming. His creative PowerPoint post was the result. Thank goodness I had already made my 50 handouts because I was having so much fun (and a … (34 comments)

blogging: A Blog About Explaining A Blog - 03/05/08 02:26 PM
Next week I get to do one of my favorite things – talk about blogging. I know, I talk about it a lot anyway, but this time I've been asked to give a presentation on blogging for the Greater Baltimore Chapter of the Women's Council of Realtors.
The WCR is a great group that I've had fun with before. About a year and a half ago there was a session on using technology where I showed off my tech toys and tools during their Day of Education. The best part was seeing people sharing information and tips on using their tech … (34 comments)

blogging: BLOG...Nope It's Not a Word!! - 02/04/07 11:38 PM

Blog NOT a word! How can this be? What are we all doing on Active Rain? Gee, I thought we were Bloggers who were Blogging and writing Blogs!

Did you know that Blogging is not a word?     Boggle is a word!
While I am typing  the word "blog" right this minute, there is that squiggly red line under the word "blog" which we all know  is  saying there is no such word!
There is a list of suggestions including, bogging and flogging and logging and clogging and slogging, but absolutely NO BLOGGING.
Now we were all really excited when Active Rain announced that we have a spell check.
 We have … (16 comments)

blogging: Is a NEW member like a NEW listing? - 01/12/07 11:43 AM
We were recently reminded by Rich Jacobson to "BLOG, or Get Off the Pot!" I took his challenge to get someone I invited to join ActiveRain and then get busy and BLOG.
It was very much like getting a new listing. No, it didn’t just "happen," it took time and patience and even some work. To get a new listing you have to have someone call or refer someone to you. Or you can contact expireds or unrepresented sellers (FSBOs). You can run an ad or send out postcards. You can network with friends and colleagues through business and social meetings. We all … (30 comments)
