Take a look at these two faces and see if you have room in your heart and in your home for Stewie or Oliver. Good news, the adoption fee for both of these guys has been sponsored. Please give the Baltimore Humane Society a call at the number above, take a ride out to Nicodemus Road and see if Stewie or Oliver might be your perfect pet.

homerome: Get Away Day In Annapolis
- 07/19/16 01:17 PM
No reason but just a 'get away' for the day. I have been on a wonderfully busy fast paced listing and selling frenzy. When my friend asked me to go to Annapolis...my first thought..no way...too many transactions in the pipeline. Not a good time. Since when can't I take a day to enjoy the day, the outside, the beauty, the water and a special friend? We had a delightful time spending the day at Quiet Waters Park and walking around Annapolis. Nothing was missed, my phones were answered, appointments made and I have been in touch with my clients. Nice day and glad to share

homerome: It Never Hurts To Help
- 07/17/16 10:59 AM
On my radio show today Tom called in to thank me for giving him a name of a termite contractor. That name I gave him was over a year ago. His neighbor was in dire need of an exterminator and he remembered my recommendation. Not only did my friend and contractor go out and help his neighbor eradicate some large critters that had invaded her home but he went back the following day to check on the customer to make sure she was OK and to again make sure these rodents were gone. He even re-baited the traps and reassured her. Tom just wanted to

homerome: Taking responsibility As A Listing agent.
- 07/16/16 12:49 AM
Real estate is a commitment and comes with responsibility. As a listing broker I have been told that I should not make my own appointments that I should not show my own properties. When I take a listing I also take on the responsibility of that listing. By limiting the number of listings I take, I am able to give this kind of service. I continue to make my own appointments, I do show my own listings and I do keep my sellers informed. If my property has a lockbox it's still my responsibility to make sure the house is secured after any showings. It's

homerome: Saving For That Down Payment
- 07/15/16 01:58 AM
When speaking to buyers especially young and first time purchasers who have little or no savings, I advise them to start a "house account". This place is only for deposits and no withdrawals allowed. Take a look what Alan and Gene suggest for engaged couples. Every time they think they want to buy some frivolous item on a whim, I ask them to think about that future home. Then take whatever 'savings' and deposit into that special account. When relatives ask what they want for a birthday or special occasion...ask for a donation to your future home. Many buyers have thanked me for this advice over the

homerome: This Is Not The Rome Way
- 07/14/16 01:34 PM
Received a call today from a potential seller with a very unusual home to sell. They found me through my print media and have been following me for awhile. With time in my schedule, I went over this afternoon and I found this to be a really unique, secluded gem, custom built by the present owner and in a very desirable area but in need of TLC. It is one of those "unsalable" homes that "won't appraise" ... right up my alley. I love the challenge. After asking my two questions, I got affirmative answers. Yes... they want to sell and yes... they want to use me. They loved my marketing

homerome: What A Nice Way To End The Week
- 07/09/16 04:42 AM
Recently sold a property to someone who remembered me from twenty years ago. The sale went well and so did the closing. Click to see slideshow Yesterday, I received these lovely words from my special seller. "I had an excellent experience with Margaret Rome when selling my house in Baltimore County. Margaret is extremely professional and knowledgeable about the real estate market, and my house was under contract in one week. She was always available whenever I called or needed information, and she returned phone calls, emails, and texts immediately. Margaret writes a daily blog about real estate and is the host of a

homerome: A Nice Memory
- 07/07/16 08:23 PM
Remembering Jerry Herling I remember when My Lee and I flew from Baltimore to Atlantic City to get a contract signed. It was a delightful experience and a real WOW for my favorite sellers, Lois and Jerry Herling. They were at their vacation home and I wanted to expedite the sale. I made a call requesting they meet us at the Atlantic City Airport. We were able to make this trip in 40 minutes, instead of the normal 3 hour drive. We also had time

homerome: Social Media The Rome Way
- 07/07/16 10:35 AM
Many years ago I wrote a blog post on ActiveRain about a special Open House I was looking for a way to get traffic to one my listings. The blog describing that event was picked up by the Washington Post.. Read here. From The Washington Post article Realtor® Magazine invited me to be the Open House Master. We tagged on the first ActiveRain Open House at the same time. Social media marketing The Rome Way. 'Social media is one of the most powerful tools you can utilize to market your business. In fact, with 90% of home searches beginning online I’d say having an online presence is absolutely essential if you

homerome: LSC... Or Leave It Alone
- 07/05/16 08:36 PM
If it does not have to do with Real Estate, including listing, selling and closing...it's not up for discussion. When I first became a Realtor® over 25 years ago, I found so much chit chat, negativity, rehashing of what was or what went "wrong" with the buyer, the seller, the agent or the transaction that I made an unwritten rule for myself. If it does not have to do with a listing, a sale or a closing...leave it alone. When in the office, I would spend a short time with niceties..how are you, how are the grand-kids etc. My focus was learning about listing, selling

Recently Jeff Dowler CRS asked if we post our listings on ActiveRain and I wanted to say... Yes. I post all my listings. I post them coming soon. I post them when they are live in the MLS. I post any other topics that help showcase my listings and gets my properties additional exposure I also post when buyers go to closing. I post about neighborhoods, restaurants and local

Even in the rain this is a pretty good view of fireworks. It was such a pleasure finding this special place that Linda calls home.

homerome: Have A Happy 4th By Doing This On The 3rd
- 07/03/16 12:15 PM
My mom used to say this every year on this date. It is the only day of the year that it works. When I say this corny little sentence, I think of Mom and smile. If I were the marketing person for a liquor store today... My sign would say "Buy a 5th on the 3rd for the 4th."
