karen colvin: Birthday Wishes To My Friend - 01/03/21 08:18 PM

Happy Birthday Karen
For the past five years, starting on January 16, 2016, my friend Karen and I have gone out every Saturday night, celebrated all holidays together and we would have never missed a birthday. This past year has been quite different. No get-togethers. We still text daily and also talk most days but it is not the same as being together! Today I want to wish my friend Karen a Happy Birthday!
The photo above was another birthday but not this year.

To celebrate KC's Birthday here are ten posts sharing our friendship

It turned out to be a delightful evening for the Grand Opening Celebration of

The invitation read..

" Questar Properties cordially invites you to join us as we celebrate the Grand Opening of 414 Light Street. The evening soiree on our Skyline Terrace will feature live jazz, cocktails and tours of our models and expansive amenity spaces."

Take a look at this video of this magnificent Baltimore structure... 44 stories of architectural glass and steel.

karen colvin: SPCA Building Getting A Face Lift- Colvin Family Makes It Happen - 08/14/18 06:15 PM
The Maryland SPCA Administrative Building Needs A Face Lift.
Through a generous gift from The Colvin Family, these improvements will be possible.

The MD SPCA uses the original building, on the grounds purchased in 1929, as their administrative office. It was built, as a house, in 1861.
The first floor has a foyer, large conference room, bathroom and kitchen.
The second floor, which was originally bedrooms, is now office spaces for the department directors and staff.

The staff at the SPCA, friends and family joined in for the presentation and the bronze plaque will read:

karen colvin: Paying It Forward...The Rome Way - 11/05/17 03:22 PM
There is a November challenge hosted by Belinda Spillman .
With ActiveRain we see members, every single day, paying it forward...helping others and helping each other. This entire platform is a caring group that I am glad to be a part of.

A few years ago, I wrote about this
elderly couple who had to give up their pet
when buying a condo. Pets were not allowed.
It was some time after-wards that I learned about ESA Emotional Support Animals, Care and Comfort pets, in addition to the ADA protected service dogs.
This has been  been dealt with some strong emotions from places that are not pet friendly. … (35 comments)

karen colvin: Finding A Loving Home For Rescue Animals - 10/25/17 08:31 PM

Before arriving at the President's Reception tonight I received the following letter:

'Dear Margaret, Thank you for your generous gift to the Maryland SPCA! Many of our animals came to us from heart breaking situations of abuse or neglect . Others were abandoned and unloved.
But, because of your generous donation, the pets in our care will have nutritious food, a warm bed, medical care and the opportunity to find a family.
Your continued support and compassion gives homeless dogs and cats a chance to find the love they deserve! Once again, thank you for your support .'
Sincerely, Wendy E. Webster

karen colvin: Personal, Not About Real Estate - 08/01/17 05:27 PM

For the past two and a half years I have gone out every Saturday night with the same person. This is someone I have known for many many years. It was through mutual loss that we reconnected.
My TLH passed away over four years ago and Karen lost the love of her life three years ago.
We have much in common. Karen grew up, on the street, I now live, next door to our best friends. We are both RN's and know each other from the Pediatric Clinic at Sinai hospital where I was a head nurse.
Karen, a dog lover, named her … (21 comments)

karen colvin: Name This Baltimore Kitty - 05/18/17 01:30 PM

My dear friend Karen has rescued a beautiful one year old tabby from the Baltimore  SPCA.

This handsome green eyed boy is friendly and oh so sweet.

He loves being petted, climbs right in your lap, cuddles and nudges for attention.
He is quite affectionate for a feline.
But he needs a name.

The only challenge now is finding a name for this special good looking fella?

Will you help Karen by suggesting a name

for  her new kitty?

karen colvin: A Beagle Named Franki - 10/10/16 10:37 AM

The Maryland SPCA did the above story in their
Fall 2016  newsletter ANIMAL TALK.
Take a few minutes and read the article written by my friend and Franki's mom, Karen Colvin.

Not only was Franki special to her family but to me also.
I loved this dog as though she were mine.
Such a beautiful spirit, such beautiful eyes such a good soul...
I even carry her card with me to tell people about service animals.
Rest in peace sweet Franki. I love you.

Look how one special family and one special pet made such a difference.
Thank you Karen for sharing and caring.
