A grief group, a widows group ... not the right name. This is a group of special women who have experienced profound loss. For some, it has only been a few months, for others- years. My best friend, Karen, organized the gathering, served dinner, and had a gift book for each guest. There was a lot of comfort and warmth in her lovely home.
Karen and I have known each other for over forty years but reconnected after her John and my Lee passed away. A strong friendship of mutual love, admiration and respect has developed over the past four years. Daily (24 comments)

Today would have been our 51st Anniversary! 18 years ago he got a big diagnosis. His cancer was very rare, usually found in extremities of younger people... not in the abdomen touching every major organ and not in someone his age. Prognosis nil. No chance of survival. One of the biggest hospitals in the world wanted to do radiation and chemo immediately. With such a poor diagnosis why would you put him through this ordeal!!?

This hospital treated the whole person not the patient. It was the doctors who looked first at my husband and then at the chart and lab results! Lee Rome had a BIG diagnosis but he was treated first as a gentleman, a husband, a father, a business man and a friend to many. Thirteen years before Lee died, we were told there was no chance of survival. We were in and out of medical facilities including Baltimore's Johns Hopkins, Boston's Mass General and New York Presbyterian. Brilliant doctors were at each one but it was at Franklin Square Hospital that the true brilliance came through. First and foremost I had confidence in (12 comments)
Family Medicine Franklin Square Hospital...Superb Care!
From the moment we were greeted at the hospital, emergency room or clinic the kindness and care was evident. Everyone was working together to make LEE feel welcome acknowledging his condition and his feelings. The nurses and the brilliant doctors worked together in unison. The respect of the staff for each other was refreshing. They were there to help the patient and family while helping each other as a team. That level of care continued. These words,"please let us know if you need anything'', were repeated by each staff member and they really meant it. A lovely private (16 comments)
