real estate the rome way: Kick Butt Listing the Rome Way works! - 03/12/12 10:15 PM
Kick Butt Listing the Rome Way works for me! Being a solo broker and listing agent, THE MOST AMAZING KICK BUTT LISTING PRESENTATION CONTEST was right up my alley. Since most listings are from past clients and referrals, I have a steady stream of sellers to choose from and the luxury of interviewing the potential listings to make sure I want to take them on. I love what I do and give so much to each transaction, I need to make sure it is a good partnership.

real estate the rome way: This is my favorite gift from a Best Friend. - 12/29/11 10:26 PM
This is my favorite gift from a Best Friend. What is my favorite gift? It is the one that arrived in the mail yesterday. A very special book with twenty photos that chronicles a friendship over the past couple of decades. The front was done in my very special color..chocolate brown, and the opening photo was of Peg and me taken a few years ago. Slowly flipping through the book, good times and memories flooded in. Within moments I was on the

real estate the rome way: This is a Perfect Example of Agent to Agent Admiration and Appreciation - 11/10/11 09:03 PM
This is a perfect example of Agent to Agent Admiration and Appreciation. In today's 'snail' mail I received a custom card made by Terri Camp. She took a copy of a magazine, that featured me, and made it the cover. Please take time to read her 'thank you' note and notice we both drive the same make car with branded license plates. Her's reads "Ta Dah" It has only been 10 days since I met this new blogger and mentioned her in my post Our Job is

real estate the rome way: Saying Farewell to a Best Friend! - 06/26/11 11:55 PM
Saying Farewell to a Best Friend! Anyone who knows me has read about my friend, mentor, publisher and confidant...Peg Silloway. We have known each other for well over 20 years. We met at NAWBO -National Association of Women's Business Owners- back when I was a porcelain artist and she was a CPA. We liked each other from the beginning. Over time we changed places...career wise. Peg went back into the arts, doing stained glass and then writing and you all know I went into real estate...HomeRome Realty. I don't think we have missed getting

real estate the rome way: Why I Blog... Has Nothing To Do With Why You Should Blog! - 05/07/11 11:42 PM
ActiveRain is turning five next month and I have been here blogging since July of 2006 almost from the beginning! I was the 845th member to sign in. It has become part of my daily routine and a huge part of my business. An often asked question: How do you find time to write every day? I usually say: I take a shower every day, wash my hair every day...always finding time for important things. Blogging has become one of those important things. The writing of my book, fabulous reviews and countless listings and buyers have been the direct

real estate the rome way: You Can't Tell a Book By Its Cover! - 03/16/11 02:19 AM
You Can't Tell a Book By Its Cover! Yesterday , I took a ride to Hyattsville, Maryland about an hour away from Baltimore and had the pleasure of meeting and listening to Stefan Swanepoel. He is energetic, brilliant, entertaining, adorable and has a wealth of real estate knowledge to share. I took a lot of notes and a lot of photos. Even though this one is not quite in focus, it is my favorite. That is Stefan and me... each holding our own book. Just a small difference...it is my first and only book and his twentieth book. The hours flew

real estate the rome way: CRS Luncheon in Baltimore...Not Just For the Education - 03/13/11 12:46 AM
CRS luncheons are not just for the education! Council of Residential Specialists Anyone who really knows about hot fudge and ice cream has to have two separate dishes...one for the ice cream and the other to keep the chocolate hot. Then you can can devour it slowly and enjoy really hot chocolate with each bite! The Suburban Club is famous for its hot fudge. Maybe that's why we we had such a good turnout! The speaker was Neal Feinberg from MRIS. His picture on the computer screen was Tony Orlando in a

real estate the rome way: Don't Forget to Ask for a Review...You Deserve It! - 02/17/11 10:34 PM
Don't forget to ask your past clients for a review. A couple of weeks ago Brad Andersohn held a seminar with Elizabeth Weintraub . I decided to give it a try. I called six of my previous clients and asked if they would write a review. Surprising they were all delighted to do this for me.... each one of them wrote a a very nice review....pretty close to perfect scores...I might add. This is not something I would

real estate the rome way: Pay It Forward... Made Simple the Rome Way! - 12/23/10 04:22 PM
One of the themes that run through my life is YOU GET BY GIVING a statement first heard from Floyd Wickman. The statement was new but not the concept. When I remember Mom the first year she moved to Baltimore... her condo was filled with lots of gifts at the holidays. This would not be surprising except it was her first year and the gifts were all from people she knew for less than 12 months. When I asked where everything came from...her response: ''Everyone in Baltimore is so nice!'' Questioning each gift going around the room ... each had it's

real estate the rome way: Back to Basics... Do's and Don'ts - 12/23/10 12:48 AM
Writing about the subject...Going Back to Basics, I have talked about answering your phone, making your own appointments and even having a special business card.. ...Use Your Phone! and What's Your Tag Line? -and A Different Kind of Cold Calling. That reminded me that I don't do anything I don't want to. . This simplifies my business and my life: Back to Basics...Do's and Don'ts I don't want to work with clients who are kindness impaired…so I don't. Life is too short. I don't want to cut my commission (which would mean that I would have to cut my

In doing the 31 day challenge, realized I don't have a business card...haven't for quite a while. When someone asks for my card, I usually ask for their information and get back to them. When you have a book, do you really need a business card? But that was before I discovered a really useful item...and something to add to my Bag! What's in Yours? Have you seen this magnifying card that I am holding over my book title. The card is sturdy, yet flexible and fits right in with my

My friend and publisher, Peg Silloway just won "The Muse Medallion". You can read more about it on her post It's Happened Again In Peg's words:"A week ago I sat in the ballroom at the Crowne Plaza and listened as the big names in the group and in media won awards for writing in magazines and columns, for audio, for broadcasting, for photographs and illustrations, and for a variety of books. Then it was the Gift Book category - my category. As the judge's comments were read I held my breath and my husband's hand as she concluded,
