No question, buying a house is an emotional decision. Even if you find everything, you think you want – the right neighborhood, the right school, the correct number of bedrooms, the right look, the fireplace, the gardens, the garage, the workshop, the first-floor office, even the lower level art studio. But it still may not be suitable. It's a bit like dating. Yes, the guy looked right, was tall enough, had a good sense of humor, good education, your friends liked him, but something was missing. Falling in love is wonderful! No question, buying a home is an emotional decision. Some want to show off. Some want subtlety. There are many kinds of buyers and sellers. A few years ago one of my clients was looking for an impressive, make a statement house. He wanted a property that could be seen by many, visible to the public and he wanted others to point and say "Joe lives in that house.'' The opposite is clients who prefer a quality house that just blends in with the neighborhood. I have been working with a wonderful young couple for quite a while...even door knocked for them last May. Showed them a house a few weeks ago that Did Not Smell Like Roses!! What most of you call buyers, I refer to as future sellers! Whenever the opportunity arises that I help with the purchase of a property, I want to make sure that the home is one I would be proud to represent as a listing agent.
