Have you ever had the opportunity to smell orange blossoms?  The wonderful aroma is very refreshing to many.  The image above was once filled with orange groves now; it is replaced by vacant land with nothing but grass, streets, light poles and dirt.  Signs of the times....after all the red tapes were cut, after all the 'T' was crossed and all the 'I' were dotted, there still has not been one home built on in this subdivision in Haines City.  This was supposed to be the next big booming town.

haines city: Haines City Welcomes 84 Lumber... - 02/18/07 12:48 PM
A Pennsylvania-based company 84 Lumber has moved into the area.  What does this means for the area?  Hopefully, jobs, jobs, and more jobs!!!
The building which will serves contractors opened its 5,800 square foot building in Nobember at 3777 CR 544 East.  This building is situated on 17- acres property - plenty of room for growth and currently has 16 employees and plan to increase its staff as growth continues.
84 Lumber will hold its grand opening for the Haines City area on March 13th.

haines city: Recommendations For Impact Fee Was Upheld By Polk County Commissioners - 01/24/07 01:16 PM
On Wednesday, the county commissioners voted 3-2 against a developer's request to pay no impact fees.
The impact fees will affect the developers of a new shopping center near Haines City.  The developers strongly believe that the shopping center should not pay any road impact fees and should receive credit for road improvements that they did in the area which runs from Holly Hill Road to U.S. 27.
County officials however, pointed out that the purpose of those new roads were for access to the shopping center rather than as an improvement to the community.

haines city: Haines City Senior Center To Receive A New Gym.... - 01/06/07 07:26 PM
Finally, after two years, work will start on the new gym and senior center at the Bethune Neighborhood Center in Haines City.  The ground breaking took place earlier this week with an expected cost of $3.8 million.
The previous building was destroyed by three hurricanes in 2004 and the center was in dire need of a new building.  This new facility is schedule to be completed in September of 2007.
This is welcoming news for the community.
