I can't believe it is 2013 already! In the year 2012, we started to see a more balanced real estate market here in the Richmond VA area and the lowest interest rates on the books! Curious how the Henrico County Real Estate market fared this past year? Check out these statistics: *Information from the CVRMLS as of Jan 3, 2013 for the time period of Jan. 1, 2011- Dec. 31, 2011. Information deemed reliable but not guaranteed. As you can tell, total listings sold was up by almost 15%, the average sales price was up by 6%, and days on (4 comments)
I was to hold an open house yesterday, but I didn't get the chance to because the home sold within hours of going on the Henrico County Real Estate market. That is a GREAT thing! However, it left me with some unexpected free time so I took the opportunity to attend some other Richmond open houses. My husband accompanied me to a beautiful home listed in our very own Glen Allen, Virginia subdivision. Our neighborhood is made up of single family homes and we currently have 4 active listings and 3 pending, according (5 comments)
As the very first planned community in Henrico County, Raintree in Richmond Virginia has what I would call a “triple threat” : a park-like setting, affordability, and located within the award winning Godwin High School district. Residents will tell you there is just something special about this neighborhood which consists of over 1,000 single family homes and townhomes in a gorgeous wooded setting.
Raintree in Richmond Virginia boasts several nature trails that lead you across Deep Run Creek and a wonderful highlight in the sub-division is the (8 comments)

While taking a stroll through the cobble stone road of Shockoe Slip in Richmondlast week, my family and I came upon two of our finest protecting our streets and giving us spectators a lovely sight to see with the gorgeous horses they were utilizing as transportation. Not only were the officers polite and approachable, they even gave us an opportunity to get up close and personal with their beautiful partners in crime! If you have never ventured down to this area of Richmond, you surely are missing out! With summer just around the corner, I (4 comments)

Ok, guys. This may not be for you. But, ladies, I know you are all ears! Confession. I have been driving to Northern Virginia to get my hair done. I had tried a few salons here, but no one could get my hair just right. So I made the 2 hour drive every couple of months to a salon that I just loved. Well, with gas prices being so high (OUCH!) I decided it had to end. Turning to Twitter, yes Twitter, I asked for a recommendation to a great salon that (1 comments)

The last few years have been somewhat of a roller coaster ride in the real estate industry, so I can understand why people ask this question so often. They want to get the most money out of their investment and don't want to sit on the market any longer than they have to. So, when confronted with the idea of moving in the Fall or Winter, some wonder if they should sit out and wait until the "hot" season in real estate, Spring. What I tell clients and (5 comments)

Those of us in the real estate profession will hear this on any given Sunday, "the appliances are so outdated." And, in many instances, the buyer is right. But, then there are those times when a buyer will say appliances are outdated and yet the fridge was just bought 9 months ago. What gives? Stainless steel. For all of you buyers out there who watch HGTV House Hunters, you certainly have witnessed this but may have not noticed it. A buyer will walk into a kitchen and gasp at (6 comments)
We all imagine living in harmony with our fellow neighbor. In a perfect world we would share a drink over the fence every Friday night or break bread on Saturdays with a cookout. But, we all know the reality that we don't live in a perfect world and sometimes we are going to disagree. It's human nature. So, what do you do if you find yourself in a disagreement with your next door neighbor? Here are a few suggestions from Revolution Health: Date updated: August 09, 2007 By Dan Seligson Content provided by (15 comments)
I have always been envious of those developments that do things together as a community. You know, the ones who have summer kick-off parties, community yard sales, and even Friday night cocktail hours. There is something so special about people coming together to celebrate nothing more than sharing a fence or belonging to the same HOA. So, yesterday our little (and new) Henrico County community held it's first ever neighborhood party. It was an Easter celebration complete with a visit from the Easter Bunny himself (an unplanned "initiation" of a new neighbor, HA!), an Easter (7 comments)
We have had some picturesque days here in the RVA as of late. Sure, we have had our share of rain too, but that just creates more green to enjoy the lovely outdoors! Yesterday, after wrapping up some appointments, I took the afternoon and away the kids and I went to Crump Park in Glen Allen. What a great place! First, Crump Park is home to the Meadow Farm Museum - a historic farmhouse that often has demonstrations and exhibits, on select weekends, that showcase the life of Dr. John Mosby Sheppard, owner of Meadow Farm.
