St. Marys Ontario Fundraising for Zoe - 09/22/10 02:54 PM
Little Falls Public School, my son's school. Has taken a great fund-raising event and put a personal spin on it. This year instead of doing the Terry Fox Run with the proceeds going to the Terry Fox Cancer. They are doing a different walk and collect funds to help a local eight year old girl and her family. Zoe is going through treatment after having a large tumor removed, she is having treatment in Toronto at Sick Kids. So the goal is to help the family cover some of these cost.

Reading newspapers today and post on AR reminded me of an interesting story.
Years ago I worked on a Carnival Cruise ship, in the gift shop dept. Now any of you that have cruised will know it is rare to fine a Canadian working on the ships, of course the country we are from is on our name tag.
So one day working along an American man came up to me and said the following;

Local eight year St. Marys, Ontario girl Zoe Klein is curenlty undergoing chemotherapy after having a large tumor removed over the summer. There are currently a few events being planned in St. Marys to help them.The funds are being raised to help her family pay for the family's expenses while Zoe receives treatment at the Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto. Two events are coming up.
The Stone Willow Inn / Wildstone where Zoe's mom works is have a silent auction and a brunch

Over the past few months I have been enjoying blogging about what it is about small towns, St. Marys that I feel makes it special. Yesterday when I was outside talking with the neighbourhood handy man contractor it reminded me of what I had heard the night before on the news. The news was talking about in large city how much you have to be careful of a contractor promising to do work and never seeing him again. The neighbourhood handy man and I spoke of this. "Kids like to be independent ath that age," says Greig "It will be a time to unwind and not super-structured.: Are a few of the comments about the new afterschool program the town of St. Marys is running for the children grades 4 - 6. There will be staff there to supervise and the cost is $6.00 per hour located next to the school at the St. Marys Presbyterian Church.

Small towns and why I love this one. - 09/14/10 07:47 AM
Grocery store.
Yes even the local grocery store is a great example. So yesterday I ventured to the big city with my two children. Son who is 4 and daughter 7 months. We filled our cart right up, no food at our home. Towards the end of the shopping the baby had, had enough and want to get out of there she was crying. So we checked out all of our groceries, paid and continued to load up the boxes, (this hole time with my baby on my hip).

Well once again summer is done for the children and off to school. I am always left with mixed feelings, happy to have the structure back, happy for my son to be off learning and playing with friends. BUT I do miss him. It gave me an idea of a few things to blog about.

Here it is. I work in a small market, St. Marys, Ontario town with about 6000 folks living in it. I also sell to rural outsitde areas too. I have been giving some thought lately to what else I can do to make myself stand out. Now I beleive I have a lot of irons in the fire, and this half of the year is going well. I love to put pictures in with my blogs but i can not seem to get it to work. The picture is in jpg from. I work on a MAC
computer. I hit the picture icon, brings up the insert/edit i hit the button on the end of the first line image url, next window pops up i click choose file, I do so, it brings up the type for the pictures I hit down I hit upload now, the bottom of this window says connecting to active rain wait, and wait and wait and no picture down loads. hmm not … (5 comments)

St. Marys Ontario - What I like - 09/01/10 10:41 PM
Recently I was reminded of just one of the many things i like about my small town, St. Marys Ontario. St. Marys is also know as the Stonetown for many of the building are limestone. So the other night I went to get my border collie lab a drink of fresh water for before bed. Now Monite, (my dog) has been with the family for more than 8 years. Cutting to the case, he was no where.
