Why isn't the basics of real estate taught in High School?

Buying a home for most people is the biggest single investment they will ever make and very few people have a clue how it all comes together. I have lived in Canada most of my adult life and in 2005 moved to Hawaii and the difference in how real estate is conducted between the two countries is significant. As a realtor we have some job security in this void but I'm making sure both my children both young adults understand the basics and how to prepare for their first home purchase when they are ready.
