Is it mold? Is it mildew?... 
Increasing numbers of homeowners are experiencing issues with the appearance of small dark spots on their homes exterior walls and other surfaces. Often times these spots are assumed to be mold, mildew, bird droppings or some type of insect egg and repeated attempts to remove this substance proves futile. More often than not these dark spots are the spores of the "Shotgun" or "Artillery" Fungus. This fungus, phaerobolus, grows in organic matter such as moist wood mulch and landscaping timbers.
