restaurant company leadership development: NEW YORK STATE RESTAURANT ASSOCIATION SHOW - 03/05/19 07:42 PM
I am a member of the New York State Restaurant Association.  Every year at this time they have a large show at New York's Javits Center.
I try to network with members of the association at the show.  Some of my sphere of influence are payroll providers, employment lawyers, and systems providors.
It was a very good show today.  I made a few good contacts.
There are close to 1000 exhibitors including some friends of mine.
I met my friend Adam Ginsberg at the show.  Adam is an insurance broker and offers workers compensation insurance to restaurants.

If you are looking to make your Westchester … (28 comments)

According to the founders words "Wood & Fire is a unique family-owned restaurant that offers traditional Neapolitan cuisine with a contemporary twist. The founders of Wood & Fire joined together with diverse backgrounds and over 20 years of experience in the restaurant industry."

restaurant company leadership development: BE THE BEST LEADER YOU CAN BE - 07/09/17 08:44 PM
All results, good or bad, are the result of the leaders. Think about organizations in the news, both good and bad, and the leader of the organization is heralded or blamed. Yes, the leader sets the tone, the direction, and also models behavior. Positive results are the result of positive leaders. Show me an organization that functions very well and I can show you a positive engaged leader. I recently asked a group of employees in Westchester County NY what was wrong with their company. They replied, “We need positive leadership. We need leadership with people skills.”
What does your real … (28 comments)

restaurant company leadership development: MOVE FORWARD FEARLESSLY WITH PURPOSE - 03/12/17 08:36 PM

Many times people do not achieve theirs goals or change their bad behavior because they are paralyzed by fear. This is one serious condition that will call business owners and real estate agents to fail to move forward. Cars change, technology changes, and business practices change. What you did to get to where you are today will not get you where you want to go tomorrow.   If you want to continue hold onto your customers and market share you must adapt to changing times. And if you want to move forward you need to anticipate and get ahead of change.

restaurant company leadership development: WHAT ARE YOUR NATURAL TALENTS? - 01/08/17 07:47 PM

Every day do you have the opportuntiy to do what you do best?  We make the best decisions when rely on our strengths rather than try to shore up your weaknesses.
According to some psychologists 88% of the decisions you make on a daily basis rely on your natural talents and tendencies and that these are part of your subconscious.
Your subconscious is an important, powerful, and much needed tool. The subconscious handles all of your basic physical functions like breathing, your heart rate, your immune system, etc. The subconscious mind holds the blueprint of your body as it is now … (41 comments)

restaurant company leadership development: ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THAT NEW YEARS RESOLUTION? - 01/01/17 11:57 AM
There have been a few Active Rain posts this week on New Years Resolutions.  If you have read them go to Beth Atalay 's and Ed Silva 's blog posts.  I am going to take a different spin on this.  When I conduct my goals classes I always talk about having a burning desire unlike that of most New Years Resolutions.  Here is why.
Some people make New Year’s Resolutions and some simply don’t believe in them. I believe in goal achievement which is why I think that New Year’s Resolutions don’t work. Many are made in a ritual manner somewhat like … (34 comments)

restaurant company leadership development: THERE IS NO MORE TIME - 12/25/16 10:10 PM

Do you have more work each day than you have time in the day? If that is the case time may be managing you rather than the other way around. My Westchester County NY business owners tell me that one of their biggest challenges is having enough time. We all have 24 hours a day. No one has more time. It may appear that way because of the way they make time work for them. Unfortunately, many of us feel overwhelmed and that causes them to see their life spinning out of control.
Having a system in place will not alone … (34 comments)

restaurant company leadership development: ARE YOU ABLE TO SEE THE FOREST FOR THE TREES? - 12/18/16 11:20 AM
Are you spending so much time working IN your business that you never get around to working ON your business?
I would be remiss if I didn't mention that Melissa Zavala also mentioned working ON vs IN your business in her blog Watch Out Your Sales Pipeline May Be in Danger.   I talk about E Myth all the time in my entrepreneurs program.  Here is my spin on it.
Michael Gerber discusses this in his book “The E Myth Revisited.”  The E-Myth or the entrepreneurial myth as described by Gerber incorrectly assumes that the desire of the new business owner or entrepreneur, plus capital, plus … (32 comments)

restaurant company leadership development: HOW ARE YOU COMMUNICATING? - 12/11/16 09:22 PM

Lack of Communication can cause all types of problems.  It affects our personal relationships and our business relationships.
Think about the last time you did something but it did not turn out as you expected.  Chances are it had something to do with your communication.  Perhaps you have learned from this and gotten a "Do Over" that you would like to share in this month's contest.  For those who haven't, here are some thoughts to consider.

We communicate to get an expected response from someone else. But sometimes, in fact often, we do not get the response we expect.
One powerful reason for … (44 comments)

restaurant company leadership development: YOU CAN'T HAVE THE BIG GAINS WITHOUT RISK - 11/13/16 11:17 AM

We know that being in real estate can be rewarding.  But we also know that with that reward comes risk.  If you do not want the risk it is best to get a regular job.
Taking control of your own future involves taking responsibility for loss but you also get to have all of the gain.  But, you must be ready to step out of your comfort zone.  When you step out of your comfort zone you begin to see real progress.
I was recently coaching a Westchester County NY business executive. She wants to advance in her career. She has … (25 comments)

restaurant company leadership development: OVERCOME RESISTENCE TO CHANGE - 11/06/16 09:45 AM

Are you stuck in your business development because things are changing and you don't know what to do?  Are the old things to generate business not working anymore?
The problem is that what you did in the past is no longer worker but you are stuck in habits which have created a rut and that rut has become the path of least resistance. By continuing to go with the flow we will decline.
We have to face it … we live in a changing world. EVERYTHING changes and it’s time to acknowledge the cold, hard truth. That is, much as we’d like … (59 comments)

restaurant company leadership development: THE BRIARCLIFF MANOR - A NEW EVENT VENUE IN WESTCHESTER - 08/17/16 11:48 AM
I want to give a shout out to a great new event venue, The Briarcliff Manor.  I have known the caterer Perry DiNapoli since 2009.  Perry has catered a number of venues in Westchester County.
He has now hit a home run with this new beautiful location.
This mansion looks like something out of "Gone with the Wind."  I have attended some nice events here including some charity events.
You can treat yourself and your friends to a great dinner here at Perry's Antipasti di Napoli Trattoria & Bar.    Effective tomorrow morning our BNI will start meeting here.
Here is the information on directions … (24 comments)

restaurant company leadership development: SEVEN HABITS OF HIGHLY EFFECTIVE LEADERS - 04/17/16 01:05 PM

Steven Covey wrote a book about seven habits of highly effective people.  I work with people who are leaders or want to become leaders.  There are many examples of what not to do.
Proper business leadership is crucial to the success of any business of any size. No company can be more successful than the effectiveness of its leaders. If the head of a company lacks positive leadership qualities, he or she will be unsuccessful motivating and leading the staff. This in turn will result in lost customers and business opportunities.
Leadership is complex and what works well in one environment may … (64 comments)

restaurant company leadership development: PAX ROMANA IN WHITE PLAINS - GREAT CHOICE FOR FRESH PASTA - 02/17/16 10:25 AM
We had a great dinner last night at a new Italian restaurant in White Plain.  Pax Romana has been open for only a few months now but judging by the crowd  below it is a huge success.
The restaurant is located at 189 E Post Road in White Plains.  We had the Handmade Gnocchi with Cheese and it was absolutely mouth watering.  Pax Romana makes their own pasta.  You can actually see a lady up front rolling the pasta dough and cutting it.

Both pictures are courtesy of Pax Romana's Facebook page.  Please go there and like it.
