hughesville 10k festival: Successful Day for Hughesville 10k Festival - 10/19/08 09:45 AM
Thank you runners, sponsors, volunteers, Charles County Sheriff's Office, local businesses, moms, dads, kids and community members for a successful first running of the Hughesville 10k, 5k and 1k Kids Fun Run! Of course we ran into a few problems, but overall, we are very pleased with the outcome of the first race.
It was a successful day! We collected 812lbs of non-perishable canned, boxed and dry goods and $50 in cash donations for the Southern Maryland Food Bank during the Inaugural Hughesville 10k Festival! The Southern Maryland Food Bank needs your donations. They had to close their doors on Monday October 13 and has had to do so every other Monday since May due to a lack of food to distribute to the community. The Hughesville Running Club is sponsoring the Hughesville 10k Festival, tomorrow October 18. We are collecting non-perishable canned, boxed, and dry goods to be donated to the Southern Maryland Food Bank.

hughesville 10k festival: Rescheduled Hughesville 10k Festival October 18th - 10/09/08 08:36 AM
Plan to attend the Hughesville 10k Festival, October 18, 2008, presented by the Hughesville Running Club, a Road Runners Club of America affiliated, 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. We will have a 10k/5k and a kids 1k fun run. The kids fun run starts at 8:15am and the 10k/5k starts at 8:30am or immediately after the kids run. During the races and awards ceremony local radio personality Frank Dawson from WKIK 102.9 FM will broadcast live 9-12pm and The Wanderers, a local band, performs live from 12-3pm.

hughesville 10k festival: Hughesville 10K Festival Postponed due to Tropical Storm Hanna - 09/05/08 08:24 AM
I regret to inform you we've made the decision to postpone the Hughesville 10k Festival.
According to the National Weather Service Southern Maryland should begin to experience sustained winds of 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph early Saturday morning lasting into late afternoon. The strongest winds will occur east of the Interstate 95 corridor.
They also indicate that Southern Maryland will most likely experience the strongest winds on the western shore. Rain will begin across our area sometime Friday afternoon. hughesville 10k festival: Places to Park for the Hughesville 10K/5K and 1K Kids Fun Run - 09/04/08 04:59 PM
We're still watching the storm track closely. Since Tuesday, Hannah's track has moved further east and has Hannah arriving later than expected. But, we're under a Tropical Storm watch with sustained winds of 39-73mph. Keep your fingers crossed something positive happens over the next 12-24 hours.
We will make a go/no go decision no later than noon Friday and will broadcast via email to registrants and post on Hughesvillerunningclub.com.

hughesville 10k festival: Tropical Storm Hannah - Hughesville 10K Festival - 09/02/08 09:22 PM
We are watching the storm track closely. If we have to cancel the runs due to weather there will be two options for registrants:
Transfer registration to new race day (date TBD) Request refund Runner and volunteer safety is paramount. Forecasted heavy downpours, thunderstorms, winds, or any other severe weather will affect our decision. We will make a go/no go decision no later than noon Friday and will broadcast via email to registrants and post on Hughesvillerunningclub.com

What do warm-ups, kinesio taping, and massages have in common? They'll all be offered by sponsors to the runners and walkers in the Inaugural Hughesville 10k Festival.

We've got awards for the male and female top finisher and the top finisher in 5 age groups for both events. There are 14 awards in all. None of this sounds interesting, the least bit fun or are you a prime candidate for knee or hip replacement surgery?

We are closing in fast on the Inaugural Hughesville 10k Festival. The deadline for FREE table registration and inclusion in the event program for vendors is Wednesday August 20. After that tables will be $10.
Sponsorship opportunites exist as well. We welcome cash donations, gift certificates, and in-kind support. With radio, print and internet coverage, your sponsorship is highly visible. All proceeds, benefit the Hughesville Fire Department and Hughesville Baseball Association.
