multiple listing service: Home Listed for $1.00 on the MLS....thats right, ONE DOLLAR - 08/20/08 12:36 AM
So we all know that in some parts of the country, Real Estate values are holding steady, and in some lucky areas they are even rising (see my recent blog post: 10 Cities w/ Fastest Rising Homevalues), but in some parts of the country homevalues are so depressed that sellers are having a hard time even giving their homes away: Enter the $1.00 Listing I just read an article that literally blew me away (Detroit News: Forclosure Fallout, Houses go for a $1), because it told of how a Bank listed one of its REO properties in Detroit for $1.00

multiple listing service: Agents vs FSBO: The ULTIMATE Hypocrisy - 08/17/08 08:38 PM
The Golden Rule: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." However, I just read a Wired Magazine article (Cracking the Real Estate Code) which made an interesting point: Agents do a better job of selling their OWN home than selling comparable homes on behalf of their clients. The article noted a study of 100,000 homes sold in Chicago, which concluded that Agents keep their OWN home on the market 10 days LONGER & ultimately sell their OWN home for 3% HIGHER than comparable homes they sold for their clients! Below, I've reprinted a portion of a recent Money Magazine article (10 Fastest Growing Real Estate Markets, 05/13/08) which lists 10 cities with the fastest rising home values: McAllen, Texas 12-month forecast: 4% Median

This blog post is based on another blog I wrote called: FEE to FREE - Will FREE Online Listing Services replace the MLS? That blog received the following 2 GREAT comments (as well as many others) that prompted me to write this blog as a follow-up: Exerpt from Comment #1: "So many agents are afraid to see the forest for the trees. Social networking sites like Localism will grow in importance and the public, not the agent will control the content. As the sites grow in popularity, the amount of information will get larger, the content will get better and

multiple listing service: FEE to FREE - Will FREE Online Listing Services replace the MLS? - 08/01/08 10:24 PM
The Multiple Listing Service, though still the premiere Real Estate Property Listing Service in the United States, is beginning to be eclipsed by a multitude of online Listing Services that allow homesellers & Real Estate Agents to list their property for FREE. The great advantage of these FREE Internet listings, besides their vastly reduced expense to the seller, is the ability to pair them with other great Web 2.0 services, such as Social Networking, to create an enhanced marketplace for the entire Real Estate Industry.....cheaper for sellers to list, easier for buyers to search, and less restrictive for Agents &
