alpharetta home inspection: I never thought I would see this, on top of a house, of all places. - 01/04/09 02:56 PM
I have seen some really unusual things before as an Atlanta home inspector, this one was really, really unusual. And I really could not decide if it was smart or not so smart! Below is a picture that I took during this Alpharetta home inspection. So here's the mark up that I put in the reoprt, This is one of the reasons, I recommend a home inspection, I couldn't see this from the ground, and I really couldn't tell if it was sealed around well enough to keep water from penetrating the roof. We have a water

alpharetta home inspection: Atlanta Home Inspector uses Homegauge to provide his home inspection reports - 10/15/08 10:03 AM
We get asked all the time what kind of home inspection report do you provide? And I'm very happy to be able to say that we use the HomeGauge program. I use my phone/pda as I go through the home inspection process so that as I find items nothing is missed or forgotten. I don't have to remember details until I can get back to my lap top or my vehicle, I just take a picture, enter data in my phone and if I really want to make sure that I have the details correct the HomeGauge program has a built

alpharetta home inspection: Atlanta Home Inspector finds an airplane inside this home. - 09/21/08 05:51 PM
As the Atlanta home inspector we have the priviledge of finding all kinds of things inside homes we inspect. Here is a picture that I found in a home while doing a home inspection for Peggy Smith - an Alparetta, Cumming and North Metro Realtor. I looked at this and it took a minute to figure out what it was since I was looking at it from the backside. Can someone else tell me what it is besides just an airplane inside? I can just imagine that this was some little boys room who had great dreams of being

alpharetta home inspection: Say hello to the Atlanta Home Inspectors little friend! - 09/03/08 04:47 PM
Hello folks, David Lelak here and to be honest the guest that I ran up on in an attic that I was inspecting gave me quite the start. I was down on my hands and knees and glancing at the outer edges looking for signs of leaking and everything else and much to my surprise I glanced down and just about had to clean out my pants right there on the spot. We almost had moisture damage. Right in front of me lay (what at first glance, looked like the actual thing) a 54 inch snake skin. Needless to say I was

alpharetta home inspection: Tornadoes, wind damage and hail storms, Oh My! You may have to worry about your contractors to. - 07/14/08 06:40 PM
Here over the last few months Cherokee County was hit by a few storms including tornadoes, and a lot of hail damage. According to the following article the storms in Cherokee County caused about 13 million dollars in damage with more expected to come in. Our house was included in the hit and being the Atlanta Home Inspector, I knew what to look for and what needed fixing. As I have been doing inspections I have been watching out for the sellers and buyers here in Cherokee because a lot of them don't realize they have storm damage. Recently I had two different clients come out

alpharetta home inspection: What to expect from the Atlanta Home Inspector on inspection day. - 07/07/08 08:32 PM
When I arrive at your home for your home inspection, I'll begin by carefully taking a look at the exterior of the property. All exterior features of the property will be inspected including driveways, drainage systems, and grading. The entire roof will be inspected along with chimneys, skylights, vent pipes and gutters. You would be amazed at how many inspectors don't walk the roof anymore. Next is the interior. I'll usually work through the home in a logical sequence, one room at a time and one floor at a time. All general wall and floor finish conditions will be noted

alpharetta home inspection: Alpharetta Home Inspector shares 10 things to help the inspection process go smoother! - 04/12/08 08:48 PM
As an Alpharetta Home Inspector I see things all the time that could be done to help the Sellers with the home inspection process. Sellers can speed up their home inspection by following these suggestions. The inspection will go smoother, with fewer concerns that may delay their closing. Confirm that water, electric and gas service are on, with gas pilot lights burning. Remove any items blocking access to HVAC equipment, electric service panels, water heaters, attics and crawl spaces. Unlock areas the inspector must access - fence gates, attic doors or hatches, electric service panels, closets, and crawl spaces. Make sure pets
