atlanta georgia home inspections: Mystery Monday question of the day - 05/16/11 01:55 PM
http://www.ihihomeinspections.com Atlanta home inspector, David Lelak, Contrary to some of the interesting Face Book posts we have received, this isn't marshmallow or asbestos. This is foam insulation that is found in the attics of some North Georgia homes. What are the pros and cons of insulating with Foam? We found some great answers at http://www.sprayfoam.com/spps/ahpg.cfm?spgid=66 . An interesting tip taken from this link is the following: By insulating the roof surface with spray foam, the surface temperature exposed to the attic (the temperature driving the heat transfer) is reduced by as much as 40F. Both conduction and convection heat transfer are proportional

You know what, the Atlanta home inspector and the home inspectors wife have not really been M.I.A. we have just been really busy doing what we do best. I have been out inspecting all the the fine real estate agents homes around here and Bonnie has been busy building several different websites. Most of you may or may not know that Bonnie along with Carl Ross built our newest home inspection website at IHIHomeInspections.com and that because of it we we're located on page 16 and moved quickly to page 2 when searching Google for "atlanta home inspector" and we are now

atlanta georgia home inspections: Atlanta Home Inspector uses Homegauge to provide his home inspection reports - 10/15/08 10:03 AM
We get asked all the time what kind of home inspection report do you provide? And I'm very happy to be able to say that we use the HomeGauge program. I use my phone/pda as I go through the home inspection process so that as I find items nothing is missed or forgotten. I don't have to remember details until I can get back to my lap top or my vehicle, I just take a picture, enter data in my phone and if I really want to make sure that I have the details correct the HomeGauge program has a built

I know that as real estate agents, you get ask all the time by the homeowners the age old question of "How long is my (you fill in here) going to last? How long can I expect my dishwasher to last or what about the roof. The average home owner wants to know the average life expectancy of these normal house hold components and they expect you to know the answer. So I thought I would help you out a little with a few answers. Refrigerators will last about thirteen years, and dryers will last about the same amount of time. The dishwashers and microwave

atlanta georgia home inspections: You can't have roses WITHOUT the Thorns! - 03/05/08 11:26 AM
Some times in life we have to see past or get past the thorns to see the flowers. God doesn't let you go through a trial so that he can find out if you will make it, God lets you go through it so that YOU will Know if you can stand. The trials are never about God, they're all about you and growing you. Have a blessed day! Bonnie TheHomeInspectorsWife

atlanta georgia home inspections: At what point do you throw in the towel? - 03/01/08 01:32 PM
As an Atlanta Home Inspector, in this market I have been wondering at what point do you throw in the towel on a home with problems? Or better yet, are you even allowed to throw in the towel? There is some things that I just don't understand and one of those things is "Why more people don't get a pre-listing inspection done on a home before doing all that you do?" It seems to me and of course this is just my opinion, but it seems like people go about this a little backwards. First as a Realtor, you spend your hard

Some of you have figured out that I am morning job that consist of a whole lot of little ones (being a school bus driver is always an adventure). This morning was no exception. The power went out here just about the time all these little ones were due to get on the bus. The storm was blasting through and the winds were incredible. All over the radio you heard drivers telling about this light out or this tree down or power lines across the roads and all other kinds of issues. OH and main headquarters (our bosses) didn't have power

atlanta georgia home inspections: Atlanta Home Inspector finds issues with dryer vent - 02/26/08 07:33 PM
David Lelak, an Atlanta Home Inspector located the following issue on a local Canton, Ga home inspection that he was doing. Most people don't even begin to realize the fire hazards that a dryer vent can cause. This particular case is really dangerous and you also have to wonder if the homeowners didn't notice dryer lint on the floor or if maybe it feed into a place that it wasn't noticable. atlanta georgia home inspections: You Might be an Active Rain Addict if...... - 02/23/08 08:32 PM
Just for a little fun, I'm wondering how many of us meet the following criteria? 1. You wake up after going to bed (way too late) and the first thing you do (even before the restroom) is check your blog on Active Rain. 2. You're on Active Rain reading blogs and comments and look at who's logged in and wonder why hardly anyone is logged in only to notice it is 2 am in the morning. 3. You're finally giving it up and while lying in bed, trying to go to sleep you're thinking about what you can blog about next. 4. A storm

atlanta georgia home inspections: What I am Passionate about and WHY - 02/21/08 08:26 AM
You never know how quickly some one can be gone out of your life. I got a harsh reminder of that this past Saturday and I'm still just Thanking God for HIS hand of intervention, There is no other way to subscribe it. So many times you think I'll tell them tomorrow or oh, I'll call them later. What if later never comes? I got started using Send Out Cards because of David being an Atlanta Home Inspector and needing a good method to advertising. We had been using the system a while before we went to a meeting where the owner

Talk about troubles, since we have teenagers in the house and David and I both have our separate computers there is bound to be computer troubles sooner or later. Our later came around yesterday and lucky for us we had meet a guy through one of our networking groups. He came and fixed my Dad's computer some time ago and I could not believe how reasonable (I hate to say cheap) he is. Well he came out yesterday to fix our home network, clean off the garbage, add some printers to the network and just do a general maintence and cleanup
