atlanta georgia home inspector: Is Your Deck a Safety Hazard? - 07/20/11 12:28 PM
The air smells like barbequed goodness as you, with beverage of your choice and assorted side dishes on plate, ready to sit down on the last patio chair. The one that just seems to be sad and lonely without you. As you make your way across the crowded deck, the anticipation of good food and good times comes to a crashing halt as you crash to the deck floor. Someone should have hammered in those nails and sanded those splinters! However, you are lucky, because the deck could have fallen from the home! Nails will pull away

atlanta georgia home inspector: Atlanta Home Inspector says thank you to Colonel Brown - 06/03/11 12:14 PM
http://www.ihihomeinspections.com, David Lelak. My goal today was to upload video commentary and testimonials for further use. Suffice it to say, that I have succeeded in doing so. While I was perusing the testimonial videos, I found one from Colonel Brown that had not been processed and I really have no explanation why it was still sitting there untouched. I am sharing his video today, because I am thankful, proud and missing my son, Daniel, who is now away at military training. I know I missed Memorial Day for this post, but the honor to our men and women in uniform should be the same

atlanta georgia home inspector: No Catchy Title - Just another video I will let speak for itself - 06/02/11 01:33 PM
http://www.ihihomeinspections.com David Lelak, Atlanta Home Inspector. I was thinking for far too long about what to say in this blog. Was even on the verge of a migraine while trying to incorporate the words tentacles and firey belly. (Ok the new Pirates of the Carribbean did come out recently you know ) I wanted to say something funny. I wanted to say something educational. I wanted to say something profound. However, it all just sort of becomes a jumbled mess of ideas and concepts that perhaps don't belong together in the first place. So I have decided to let the video speak for itself

atlanta georgia home inspector: Mystery Monday with the Atlanta Home Inspector - Now that's security! - 05/23/11 11:33 AM
http://www.ihihomeinspections.com Atlanta home inspector, Welcome to Mystery Monday here in the Northern Atlanta Metro area! Sometimes the question is not so much WHAT, as much as it is WHY. It is always a good idea to protect your loved ones and your home with security systems. We know a few on the market today that are great options. However, this home had a free system already installed by the previous home owners. We aren't sure why this seemed like the best option to someone, but nevertheless it made for an interesting picture and was found in the inspection report. If you

atlanta georgia home inspector: Atlanta Home Inspector uses moisture meter to find wax ring toilet issues. - 05/20/11 10:45 AM
http://www.ihihomeinspections.com By using a moisture meter, IHI Home Inspections can determine if you need to call a plumber. The moisture output levels found here indicate a wax ring leak. The meter will respond to higher and lower levels of moisture detection and can then be documented in the report details. If the toilet has recently been installed or moved due to floor replacement, make sure the wax ring has been installed. Once the toilet has been moved, the seal is no longer as effective. Also, if the toilet rocks when you have a seat, this is a good indicator of a loosened seal. If you

atlanta georgia home inspector: Just a little something to think about. - 05/13/08 08:32 PM
I have been listening to a cd series on my way to and from home inspections and with traffic sometimes that alone can take a while. but the other day when I was listening to Financial Revolution, the guy was talking about the story of Jesus where he feeds the multitudes. Matthew 14:15-21 15 When it was evening, His disciples came to Him, saying, "This is a deserted place, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages and buy themselves food." 16 But Jesus said to them, "They do not need to go away. You

atlanta georgia home inspector: I know that you get asked this alot "How long will my ______ last"? Part 1 - 03/07/08 08:26 PM
I know that as real estate agents, you get ask all the time by the homeowners the age old question of "How long is my (you fill in here) going to last? How long can I expect my dishwasher to last or what about the roof. The average home owner wants to know the average life expectancy of these normal house hold components and they expect you to know the answer. So I thought I would help you out a little with a few answers. Refrigerators will last about thirteen years, and dryers will last about the same amount of time. The dishwashers and microwave

atlanta georgia home inspector: You can't have roses WITHOUT the Thorns! - 03/05/08 11:26 AM
Some times in life we have to see past or get past the thorns to see the flowers. God doesn't let you go through a trial so that he can find out if you will make it, God lets you go through it so that YOU will Know if you can stand. The trials are never about God, they're all about you and growing you. Have a blessed day! Bonnie TheHomeInspectorsWife

atlanta georgia home inspector: At what point do you throw in the towel? - 03/01/08 01:32 PM
As an Atlanta Home Inspector, in this market I have been wondering at what point do you throw in the towel on a home with problems? Or better yet, are you even allowed to throw in the towel? There is some things that I just don't understand and one of those things is "Why more people don't get a pre-listing inspection done on a home before doing all that you do?" It seems to me and of course this is just my opinion, but it seems like people go about this a little backwards. First as a Realtor, you spend your hard

All over the radio you heard drivers telling about this light out or this tree down or power lines across the roads and all other kinds of issues. OH and main headquarters (our bosses) didn't have power

atlanta georgia home inspector: You Might be an Active Rain Addict if...... - 02/23/08 08:32 PM
Just for a little fun, I'm wondering how many of us meet the following criteria? 1. You wake up after going to bed (way too late) and the first thing you do (even before the restroom) is check your blog on Active Rain. 2. You're on Active Rain reading blogs and comments and look at who's logged in and wonder why hardly anyone is logged in only to notice it is 2 am in the morning. 3. You're finally giving it up and while lying in bed, trying to go to sleep you're thinking about what you can blog about next. 4. A storm
