home inspector atlanta ga: Now I don't know about you, but seeing a snake skin in the attic makes me think twice - 01/10/14 12:37 AM
Snake’s rely on their skin to protect, conceal, and aid in movement. According to the Smithsonian National Zoological Park, “Starting at its head, a snake peels out of its old skin. The new skin accommodates the snake's growing body”(n.d.).

Now, I don’t know about you, but seeing this snake skin during a recent home inspection in Atlanta made me think twice about that whole accommodating the growing body thing. I mean, think about this. That skin looks to be a fairly decent size to begin with and now I know that the snake that crawled out of it is … (3 comments)

home inspector atlanta ga: The client said, "I hope he isn't inspecting our home. We don't want to fix anything." - 11/07/13 01:33 AM

Has anyone paid you a compliment that made you pause for moment?

The Atlanta home inspection team is known for it's attention to detail and thorough reporting system. We take pride in our services and present our findings completely. So, when our office was following-up with an agent with whom we had not conducted business with before, we were confronted with a compliment we weren't sure how to accept.

The agent exclaimed that her clients were thrilled with the thorough process, the easily understood report and the ability to … (54 comments)

home inspector atlanta ga: Atlanta Home Inspector home ownership maintenance tip - 10/23/13 02:03 AM
In our region, we seldom have to turn on the heat until the winter months. However, today with the wind making itself know,it made me start to think about needing to turn up the heat. I was also thinking about the home inspections in Atlanta that are performed.
During Atlanta home inspections is your current inspector checking the furnace or heat pump?
Did you know that heat pumps are an efficient choice when the temperatures are 32 degrees or higher? With that being said, when it drops below that temperature, the heat pump must “ask” for a little assistance. … (2 comments)

home inspector atlanta ga: Top Priority for new home construction clients may suprise some - 09/26/13 12:03 AM

Top Priority for new home construction clients this year may surprise some

In the past, clients who chose to build new homes were concerned with specific details that would help them maintain a steady resale value down the road. For instance, the average styles, textures, and colors were requested, which reflected the trends of the time. However, we all know that trends come and go; think bell-bottoms, big hair, and bobby socks all of which were trendy to different eras and cherished by different generations. Today, the top priority of new home construction clients may surprise some, because … (1 comments)

home inspector atlanta ga: Somedays We Forget. A view from the Atlanta Home Inspector. - 07/14/11 04:46 AM

http://www.ihihomeinspections.com
Look around, take a deep breath, and relax for a moment.
Somedays we forget to see what is all around us because we are too busy living in our heads, worrying about meetings, deadlines and responsiblilites. Somedays we forget to feel the gentle breeze on our skin, the fragile leaves on trees, or the ground beneath our feet.  Somedays we forget to listen to the silence. Somedays we forget to just be.
I hope all of us remember to take a moment now and again.

home inspector atlanta ga: Duct Tape Shingles! Now the Atlanta Home Inspector Has Seen it All... - 06/28/11 03:49 AM
Ok, so I guess most of us have heard that old adage that "duct tape fixes everything". However, most of us don't take that legend as truth. Surprisingly, somebody must have lived by these words!  I guess they did take special care to match the tape to the already present shingles. I do have to scratch my head and wonder what made this a  "good idea".
This patchwork would never have been detected from the ground. Surprisingly, there was more than one "shingle" on the roof that was found.

home inspector atlanta ga: Above the Gutter With Atlanta Home Inspector - 06/20/11 04:37 AM
Above the GutterYour home doesn't stop at the gutter. So why should your home
inspection!
Peering over the top of his ladder into the leaf strewn, pine needle filled
Aluminum gutter, the inspector will note that a good cleanning is due.
Then he will hop off the ladder, tip his hat to signify the end of this
inspection, and stroll to his truck, whistling all the way to the bank. This
inspector didn't so much as mention the wrinkles, punctures or blisters-
unless he was talking about his hands from carrying that ladder around
that he barely uses. What else did … (4 comments)

http://www.ihihomeinspections.com  Warm weather has made itself right at home in the South. As the sun beats down, many find themselves heading to the pool or nearest water source for some relaxation and recreation.  Our critter friends are no exception to this rule, as seen in this froggy photo. This little fellow is enjoying himself immensely in the murky waters of a back yard pool. He wasn't alone, but he was the most photogenic!

home inspector atlanta ga: Atlanta Home Inspector shares the importance of exterior home maintenance - 04/29/11 05:23 PM
As a home inspector in Atlanta sometimes we like to share maintenance tips.  Your home may be the most beautifully decorated inside, but do not forget to place the time and maintenance on the outside. A neglected exterior will cause a negotiation roadblock in the buying and selling process.

When choosing a home inspector in the Atlanta area, make sure that you’re going to get a full and thorough home inspection.  Choosing to hire Cheap Charlie can maybe save you up to $100.00, but it can cost you thousands in the long run.  We have found in the past that … (1 comments)

home inspector atlanta ga: Atlanta home inspector keeps customer from getting a money pit - 04/29/11 03:37 AM
As a home inspector in Atlanta sometimes we help customers avoid a serious money pit just like in the video below.  We got this testimonial from a customer about this house that seemed to look like a great deal. The home buyer had several issues that he wanted David to look at with a trained eye. Not only did David check out the areas of concern this home buyer had in mind but he found several other areas as well and kept the buyer from buying a money pit.

home inspector atlanta ga: One thing to remember when purchasing a home with a crawlspace - 02/12/11 01:28 AM
As a home inspector in Atlanta we go in some of the smallest and nastiest places, especially when it comes to older homes that have a crawl space.  One thing that I want to remind home owners to think about when they're looking to purchase this older home is the fact that most of the time the furnace is located in the crawl space.  Most people will ask me right away what the big deals is... it really isn't a big deal if you like crawling under there once a month if you use the cheap furnace filters or once every … (0 comments)

home inspector atlanta ga: Atlanta home inspector reveals unexpected roof issues - 01/24/11 02:31 AM
As a home inspector in Atlanta we pride ourselves on the fact that we walk the roof on 99% of the home inspections in Atlanta that we do.  To often we find instances where items that could be an issue would be missed if we only inspected the roof from the ground.  There are also instances where we have heard that other inspectors only inspect the attic from the scuttle hole.  We have found several items in the attics that would have been missed if we didn’t go all the way in the attic.

When choosing a home inspector in … (1 comments)

home inspector atlanta ga: Atlanta home inspector wonders about this choice for a home - 01/15/11 01:44 AM
http://www.ihihomeinspections.com  As a home inspector in Atlanta I discovered birds that are making a bird nest in the dryer vent on the outside of the home.  I decided to share this to give everyone a quick reminder about dryer vent safety.  First I thought it was kind of neat to be able to catch these birds in the act of building their new home and it wouldn't have been a problem except for location!  Even the birds know that finding the perfect home is all about location, location, location.  This location is going to get a little hot.
Now enough with joking … (2 comments)

home inspector atlanta ga: Wow had a hard time getting the youngest one in bed... - 12/12/10 02:29 PM
And it was a chore in itself...she was simply to excited about the possibility of there being no school tomorrow.  I myself am excited to, I have to admit I could sure use a little extra sleep in the morning.  Who would have thought we would be seeing snow this early in the year.  I can't remember if I have ever seen a white Christmas.
Seeing all the post on Facebook about the snow has almost been as funny as my girl's excitement.  Looking forward to the snow and the possibility of sleeping in.
This snow does have me curious how … (3 comments)

home inspector atlanta ga: Choosing Cheap Charlie for your Atlanta home inspection can cost you more than you think - 10/23/10 05:56 AM
As a home inspector in Atlanta we often find one of the main questions that we get asked all the time is how much does a home inspection cost?  So we wrote an article, titled “How Much Does An Atlanta Home Inspection Cost” and gave home buyers the different information about it.  Now one of the main things that we touched on back then was “Cheap Charlie” and why you didn’t want him to be the one that inspected your Atlanta home.  Well folks, that information hasn’t changed, as a matter of fact, Cheap Charlie’s are getting worse and worse.  Why? … (2 comments)

home inspector atlanta ga: Atlanta home inspector shares fire hazard in electrical panel. - 10/10/10 12:42 PM
As an Atlanta home inspector one of the things that I do on every home inspection is take the electrical panel off and inspect inside the electrical panel.  As an Atlanta home inspector I like to share information on how to inspect an electrical panel box.  During this Atlanta home inspection there are burnt connections found inside the panel box. Be sure and check out the electrical panel inspection video here. This is a potential fire hazard issue and should be checked by an electrician.  If you would like an Atlanta home inspector that will thoroughly check for safety hazards, feel free to go over … (2 comments)

home inspector atlanta ga: Atlanta home inspector provides home inspections in Bridgemill subdivision - 08/02/10 12:06 PM
As an Atlanta home inspector  we do a lot of Atlanta home inspections around Cherokee County, especially in the Bridgemill Subsivision.  As a home inspector I look forward to helping clients not only avoid serious issues, but I enjoyed helping them realize that while each home has minor things that will be written up in the home inspection report, most of the time the homes in Bridgemill subdivision are well built with very few defects. Since we work with quite a few excellent realtors, Erin Romeo, Charmon Young, and Rob Muller,  that specialize in the Bridgemill communities and each one of these realtors have either listed or … (0 comments)
