taxes: It's a mere $220 in savings .... a found fortune! - 11/23/10 08:25 PM
 
 If I saved $220 this year I would immediately copy the "savings program" and forward it to my State Senators.  Savings in any amount for anyone, individuals, cities, counties, states or federal government should be our collective goal.  Reducing the cost of our living environments and the "governments" that support us is just common sense ... and not a political agenda. 
We are presented with opportunities to "save"on an almost daily basis.  Unfortunately, we just don't always take the time to be a "saver" usually because we're in a hurry or it is inconvenient.  To some extent, even our fascination with … (18 comments)

First let me confess to an "editorial bias" and that is one based on the cultural system of which I am a member.  For the most part, that system finds its tax foundation in English Common Law.  I'm sure that the histories and evolution of taxes in other cultures may be as colorful as mine, but I can only hope that other writers more steeped in those cultures may be encouraged to share them with us.  But, for my part ... I'll start with a little analogy:
