dawsonville real estate: How To Save Money On Your Property Taxes - 01/19/09 06:46 AM
If you listen to the media, they would have you to believe that there are foreclosure properties on every corner. Since most of our news comes from Atlanta, you have to remember that real estate is local. What has happened in Fulton, Gwinnett, and Cobb counties does not reflect on Dawson County. The number of foreclosure properties in Dawson is not even percentage wise anything close to areas such as Gwinnett County.
However there ARE and HAVE BEEN foreclosure properties in Dawson County, and there will continue to be as the economy remains unstable. What does this mean to you, a homeowner?

dawsonville real estate: Don't be a Statistic..Protect Yourself! - 01/14/09 07:06 AM
There's alot of talk these days about agent safety. I've noticed that as the economic crunch goes on, crime is on the rise. Being near the metro Atlanta area, the daily news is full of tales of robbery, home invasions and the like. Recently, a couple in the metro Atlanta area robbed three different real estate agents within 2-3 days. Why? Agents are not being as safe as they should be.
I know there are many 'macho' men reading this and thinking that "This is for the women." Did you know that statistics show that more MEN are actually killed in robberies than women? So Listen Up!
Living and … (8 comments)

dawsonville real estate: A Day At The Falls - 08/04/08 07:22 AM

The 729-foot falls that the Cherokee Indians named Amicalola, meaning, "tumbling waters."
I have a new listing for 2 lots (10.55 acres) right across the street from  the park entrance. So, it was a work/play trip. (Place a sign, take photos, and explore the property.) Then a nice hike up the falls.
The weather was beautiful. We decided to go early before the real heat set in. I had been to the falls once before, and remembered how steep the climb. It was a tough hike to the first summit. That's where the stairs begin. The first set to the main … (0 comments)

dawsonville real estate: Just Ask For What You Want! - 07/18/08 08:19 AM
Last week I attended my Chamber luncheon, and met several of the local political candidates. One gentleman who was running for office walked right up to me and introduced himself, extended his hand and looked me right in the eye and said, " Will you vote for me?".  This was a direct, yes or no question. I hesitated for a moment before I answered, "sure I will!".
Keeping in mind that I had never met this gentleman before, it's no wonder why my quick response surprised even me. Later I began to think about why I answered that way. I believe … (2 comments)

dawsonville real estate: Do Your Words Have A Lasting Effect? - 06/30/08 06:48 AM
I wonder if we realize the effect our words have on other people's lives, and even ourselves. Once spoken words can heal, inspire, encourage, motivate. They can also cause a great deal of pain. You don't have to speak out loud everything you think in your mind. Some things are better left unsaid.
Things my mother said to me as a child:
"I hope you have a daughter someday, and I hope she acts just like you do!" - I have NO children.
"You are TOO loud, I heard you over everyone else on the bus!" I have spent the last … (6 comments)

dawsonville real estate: It's An Epidemic! Real Estate Agents Have Disappeared! - 06/26/08 07:11 AM
There's a growing trend among many real estate agents today. Not a day goes by that I am not hearing about it, or experiencing it myself.Real estate agents everywhere are HIDING! They hide from their customers, they hide from other agents, and worst of all they hide from their own clients! What is the reason for this growing epidemic? I can't answer that question with a satisfactory answer for everyone. But I can share a personal experience.I have a client who is transferring from New Hampshire to North Georgia. They called me as a result of an ad on Craigslist for a … (12 comments)

dawsonville real estate: Another Discount Brokerage Firm Moving In - 06/24/08 07:22 AM
Say is isn't so!
This morning while reading the local paper, I see that another discount brokerage firm has opened, and placed a half page ad in the paper. Of course, listing all the advantages of NOT paying a realtor commission. And even offering buyers a commission rebate upon closing a home! (why would an agent do that?)
In the larger metro- Atlanta area there have been MANY of these companies. However, over the last 18 months, consumers must have realized that they were getting what they paid for, and opted to return to a full service company to get the job done. … (6 comments)

dawsonville real estate: Should We Stop Doing Short Sales? - 06/20/08 09:16 AM
A few days ago I read a blog posted by a fellow realtor on this site who suggests that we should stop doing short sales. After taking a few days to digest it, I have decided to write a new blog instead of commenting on his.
I am appealing to all my fellow Realtors to understand how important it is that we do EVERYTHING possible to stop foreclosures from happening. In the first place, as realtors it is our responsibility to step up to the plate and do what we have committed to doing for our communities. So, it's a little … (9 comments)
