Unfortunately, many architects don't choose to purchase E&O insurance until they've had a brush with disaster - the threat of someone filing a claim against them that falls under "professional liability."
E&O insurance ("errors and omissions") protects an architect or an an architect company from claims that state negligent acts, errors, and/or omissions which result in an unsatisfactory job to their client. This type of coverage isn't included in a regular liability policy. The claims can be many different things.
