active rain: Rainmaker Status - to post or not to post - 07/15/10 09:51 AM
Those of you that know me KNOW that I am not the controversial type. You will also know that although I am not an "active", Active Rain user, there's a spot in my heart for this platform because of the friendships I've made and because of the mere fact that I learned so much here since 2006. But then the whole question of our promised "Rainmaker" status gets mysteriously removed, and then I hear that many of the original founders accounts will be deleted if they don't use them because the system needs to be "cleaned up" - are you

active rain: The Friendship Ball - Why I hate Memes - 11/17/08 04:24 PM
Everyone loves Jeff Turner! There's something about him that draws you in and we get sucked up into trying tools and crap we never thought possible. And then today I get an alert that Jeff memed me and TLW with none other than a friendship ball! Some of us don't know how to react to these memes, you feel good because you were "chosen", especially when it's my none other that TOOL BOY himself, but then you feel bad about having to put someone else through the excruciating pain. (well...maybe I'm exaggerating a bit).So after the thread on Jeff's post, it

active rain: The San Francisco Experience - talk about information overload! - 07/27/08 12:33 PM
Going to San Francisco was such an amazing experience that no matter what I say or how I describe it, I will be doing it injustice. Teresa Boardman's perspective hit it right on the spot - "The People in my computer" - HOLY COW!!!! Those people are real and they are exactly what we imagine them to be and it is so overwhelming you wish you could stick them back in there to catch your breath. I arrived at REBarcamp on Tuesday and in the middle of a session got to meet Jeff Turner, JeffX, Todd Carpenter, Roberta Murphy, Teresa Boardman,

active rain: Have you Poked anyone lately? - 05/18/08 10:59 PM
I don't share personal break-throughs here anymore but Moni and John encouraged me to come out here and tell you. Here's the twitter proof (It's THEIR fault)! So what's the news? I found an old lost cousin from Venezuela that I have not spoken to in over 20 years through facebook!! It all started last week when I told my sister that some grade school friends from Venezuela had found me. My sister is clueless about technology and much less social networking, so she signed up and found a bunch of people and even convinced my mom (anti-computer queen) to

active rain: Ines' six pack - 10/22/07 09:04 AM
Many of you may have noticed that I have not been around much, especially last week. But I was taking a rest and going to bed early (meaning 12:00 AM rather than 2:00 AM) - It's during those extra 2 hours that I splash around the RAIN. So now that I am renewed and refreshed - I had to catch up and write my SIX PACK - since I don't to beer - here are some mojitos while you read. Some of these I picked because the comments. Sometimes comments become better than the actual post, that's what's beautiful about Active Rain. Emotions FOR

active rain: Blogging responsibly is harder than it looks - 09/05/07 11:06 AM
We all have different reasons for blogging, but I think we can agree that getting business from it is the top priority. When I started blogging last year here in Active Rain, I got something I never expected from this network, camaradery, useful information and friends! But after months of blogging and not seeing any business coming my way I started thinking that the ROB (return on blogging) was not really there and that's when Paul Chaney invited me to be his apprentice for Project Blogger. Yes I worked my tail off and yes I started Miamism, my outside blog. But most

active rain: Yes another Meme - this time about books - 08/21/07 11:00 PM
I think most of us have been through a meme or two, but this time I was tagged by my dear friend and colleague, Ann Cummings. This meme is different because it's about books I love - not a bad idea at all, nothing like encouraging reading and sharing a good book. Needless to say, it was a really difficult task to narrow the list down, but I decided to mix it up a bit and give you a variety of my favorite books. I do apologize for not being able to narrow it down to

active rain: Shave your head for charity - Let's help Nick's fund raiser - 08/12/07 08:50 PM
I KNOW a lot of you missed Nicky Mississippi's post a couple of days ago, (Shave your Head for Charity - Nick's fund raiser) so I thought I would lend a helping hand to get this great cause under way. I know Nick is going to kill me for this but a lot of you know that his wife is a social worker. She is an awesome lady and is always looking for ways to help people in need. A couple of weeks ago Nick asked us what we thought about the idea of him having a fund-raiser to help his wife and could

active rain: Buh-Bye Project Blogger - 07/13/07 11:13 AM
We only have a couple of days left of Project Blogger and I could not just let it end without saying good bye. It's been 14 gruesome weeks of this event and I call them gruesome not because they were unpleasant, but because it was a lot of work! All of us involved had full-time jobs (and in real estate that means 7 days a week), and had busy personal lives during the competition. Coaches, apprentices, judges and others went out of their way to give it their all and I have to tell you that looking around at the result is

active rain: Memed again by my double - 06/01/07 09:41 AM
Did you guys notice that there is another Ines Garcia in Active Rain? Yes, you are reading correctly, and when you read her MeMe you will find more in common than just our names. So Mary McNight started this craziness here in Active Rain back in December 2006 and there must have been 50 meme posts one after the other in a period of a couple of days. We learned so much about each other and it was a lot of fun. Here's my double meme from back then. And here are some other facts that you may or may not know about

active rain: Whose voice is it anyway? - 05/19/07 12:08 AM
When blogging we hear so much about "finding your voice". The good ladies of the rain, TLW, Mariana Wagner, Ann Cummings, Monika McGillicuddy, and Carole Cohen, all wrote about it when we reviewed books here in Active Rain like Realty Blogging, by Richard Nacht and Paul Chaney and also The Weblog Handbook by Rebecca Blood. We hear about "finding your voice" from Project Blogger Judges, from other bloggers....it seems that the VOICE subject is everywhere. So I decided to do a little investigating to see what's the big deal about THE VOICE, and here's what I have to say. Your voice can

active rain: Another Active Rain meeting - Nick M. is a surfer! (edited) - 04/23/07 03:34 AM
Nick M. has demonstrated to be a SUPER COOL GUY with a great sense of humor. We all remember his post entitled Everything I ever learned about Real Estate, I learned from Surfing. , or how about How to become a Real Estate Appraiser in South Florida ? His comments are always welcome because they are so much fun. Yesterday, we had the pleasure of seeing Nick in action. It was a cloudy day here in Miami, but we decided to go out water skiing anyway and had a blast. He brought a surf board and showed us some moves (TG I had

active rain: Project Blogger in my wildest dreams - 04/16/07 09:35 PM
When I first saw Jonathan's announcement about Project Blogger I was so intrigued and thought it was such an incredible and innovative idea. Then shock hit me when Paul Chaney, THE PAUL CHANEY, whose book, Realty Blogging, we (TLW, Ann, Monika, Mariana and Carole), had reviewed a couple of weeks prior here on Active Rain, invited me to be his apprentice. But in my wildest dreams, would I have ever imagined what this competition would turn to....the camaraderie, the friendship, the help and the sharing that has transpired on only the first week of the competition leave me speechless. (well, not really). Everyone is going out of their way to

active rain: Outside Active Rain drops - 04/12/07 05:30 PM
At any given time, you can log on to Active Rain and find your favorite "rainers" - but if AR went "POOF" like our favorite Codgers' stories, would you know where to go? Would you be able to find your friends? Here's what I found.... TLW and Broker Bryant do ramble and can even hear a "BAM" once in a while. Jeff Turner is usually at work with the latest gadgets here, but can also be found in deep thought; you can also find him scanning his wife Rocky's blog (although a mother he is not), or getting ideas for Rain for Change. active rain: The Power of Blogging - 03/24/07 05:59 AM
Can we discuss the power we have within our reach? This incredible tool way surpasses any expectations I might have had. Not long ago I wrote a blog for LOCALISM about DownTown Miami Shores. The post included names of businesses and photos of the area. To my surprise, while visiting our pediatrician, Dr. Laura Fernandez-Ortiz - who happens to be a Miami Shores resident as well as a good friend - she told me that a patient had found her through my post! This patient was not aware of her move, went on line and found my post with her information. HOW COOL IS THAT!! So

active rain: Today is Maggie's Day! - 03/12/07 08:10 PM
OK guys, it's not very often we get to pat our fellow ACTIVE RAINERS in the back but this one deserves a big CONGRATULATIONS!! We like this network because it's full of great encouraging people that make our business shine. Maggie has a refreshing personality and it shows in her blogs, so it's time to thank her for it. I can't believe she was even stressed about this....and I had sooo much confidence in her. So what did Maggie do that deserves a HUGE HURRAY??? So if you see her around the rain, give her a hug, give her a shout, CONGRATULATE HER!

active rain: The Little Camera That Could - thank you Jeff Turner - 02/21/07 05:39 PM
I had to write this post to not only thank Jeff Turner for recommending such a great camera, but to show you hands on what this little camera is capable of. Just in case some of you don't know, Jeff is the president of Real Estate Shows (a great tool to showcase your listings to your customers and on your websites - take a look at a show I did to test his product). So here was my dilemma. I am always looking for ways to improve our marketing and I have a great camera (a Lumix, made by Panasonic), which takes unbelievable photos and has

active rain: Active Rain – Week in Review 01/15/07 to 01/21/07 - 01/22/07 11:05 AM
Before I start this blog I have to tell you that I have a new found respect for everyone that has taken up this task of writing the weekly review here in Active Rain. I read tons of great stuff and know this will sound like an old broken record, but I apologize for not being able to include many of the great posts from this week. It is an incredibly difficult task and just because I did not pick yours, it does not mean it wasn't good. In case you missed some of the craziness around Active Rain this week, let
