I am so happy to announce that Shores Pediatrics recently had its Grand Opening in Miami Shores! Dr. Laura Fernandez-Ortiz re-opened her office on February 2nd, 2009 at 9715 NE 2nd Avenue in downtown Miami Shores and her new phone number is 305.757.8040 - there is plenty of free parking in the back of the building and we now have a local Miami Shores Pediatrician that is not only trustworthy and experienced, but also accessible and convenient….. don’t know about you, but I’ve been waiting for this for years.

Where do people from Miami go on vacations? This could be a loaded question, since we do go everywhere around the world, but when talking to my friend from Colorado, Mariana Wagner, the subject came up. Miami is known to be a great vacation spot so outsiders sometimes wonder where locals go.
This past weekend, we decided to go on a quick 3-day cruise just to get away. It was long enough to recharge our batteries and come back like new. (Although sometimes it does feel like we need a vacation from our vacations).

Can we discuss the power we have within our reach?
This incredible tool way surpasses any expectations I might have had. Not long ago I wrote a blog for LOCALISM about DownTown Miami Shores. The post included names of businesses and photos of the area.
To my surprise, while visiting our pediatrician, Dr. Laura Fernandez-Ortiz - who happens to be a Miami Shores resident as well as a good friend - she told me that a patient had found her through my post! This patient was not aware of her move, went on line and found my post with her information. HOW COOL IS THAT!!

Miami Shores is known mostly as a small residential area, but Downtown Miami Shores has great businesses to be proud of. Located on Northeast 2nd Avenue From 94th Street to 101st Street, you will find all kinds of shops and places to eat as well as medical and real estate offices. Through the years Downtown Miami Shores has gone through changes and we expect it to get better and better, especially with the redevelopment plans taking place.

You have heard us talk about Miami Shores, Florida a bunch of times and you are still wondering what the big deal is. Rick and I live, work and play in Miami Shores. It is our home and we would not change it for anything.
