Allergies, causes, - and treatment of w/ acupuncture
An allergy is an immune system disorder that occurs when your body has an inflammatory, hypertensive reaction to what is a normally benign substance. Common conditions such as hay fever, eczema, hives and asthma are actually allergic reactions; others include food allergies, responses to bee stings and certain medications.

There are two main factors that can make you susceptible to allergens - host and environmental factors. Host factors are items that are genetic (race, age, gender, and heredity) and internal to the body’s bio-chemistry. Environmental factors are exposure … (4 comments)

ACUPUNCTURE and Fertility Issues

Infertility is a term that refers to the inability of a person to reproduce. Although it affects men and women alike, the causes (and treatments) differ greatly. Female infertility is a more common issue, as it also covers the condition of a woman who is unable to achieve a full-term pregnancy. Like many other medical definitions, infertility is a term that covers a wide range of conditions and causes.

Female infertility can be caused by either primary factors (hormone imbalances, liver or kidney issues, genetic abnormalities) or secondary factors (smoking, STDs, high … (2 comments)

acupuncture: ACUPUNCTURE -and Appetite Control - 04/06/11 01:46 PM

ACUPUNCTURE - and appetite control

Appetite is your body’s urge to eat, namely to satiate hunger, and is a trait shared by most species of higher life forms. There are many disorders that are directly linked to appetite, including anorexia, bulimia, overeating and binge eating. The region of the brain that controls appetite is called the hypothalamus.
Your appetite is regulated by a number of physical and mental factors including the digestive tract and the central nervous system. When these items aren’t functioning correctly, a dysfunction of appetite occurs, either under eating (anorexia nervosa) or overeating (polyphaglia). The dangers … (6 comments)

acupuncture: Amish are going solar! - 04/04/11 03:20 PM
Amish are going solar!!

amish video
Did you know they were into electricity? I didn't, now I understand they are just off the "grid", and they love the sun.
Who doesn't love the sun, wind, etc - all the green ways. I love the quiet presentation of this video, with the horse and buggies.  I think they would also welcome hmmm ACUPUNCTURE as well!!!  hahaha
okay , I had to sneak in that thought. Just when you think the Amish are so retro, they go solar!!
I love the paradox. Acupuncture is pretty retro too. Is it surprising that it is gaining huge popularity? I think … (9 comments)

It is awesome when someone else takes all your cares and stresses away for a short while, and lets you have a soothing time to daydream, and listen to beautiful music designed to erase your worry wrinkles.
Time to … (8 comments)

acupuncture: Still Mountain Poem - 04/03/11 04:08 PM
Still Mountain The mountain remains still,
Its movement unseen by the bird
Whose shadow is small,
A passing reflection on the lake.
Held for only a moment.

The line carved by the wing
Cuts to infinity,
Sounds to eternity,
And leaves little trace.

For those of you who have read Lao Tzu, the Tao Te Ching, you will enjoy the ideas that come out of the taoist and zen buddhist tradition. Acupuncture uses images from nature to explain the laws that govern life, and the peaceful … (4 comments)

acupuncture: Earliest recording of Acupuncture - in Italy- on mummy named Otzi - 04/03/11 09:49 AM

Earliest recording of Acupuncture - in Italy- on mummy named Otzi Reconstruction of how Ötzi may have looked when alive (Museum Bélesta, Ariège, France)
Ötzi had several carbon tattoos including groups of short, parallel, vertical lines to both sides of the lumbar spine, a cruciform mark behind the right knee, and various marks around both ankles. Radiological examination of his bones showed "age-conditioned or strain-induced degeneration" in these areas, including osteochondrosis and slight spondylosis in the lumbar spine and wear-and-tear degeneration in the knee and especially the ankle joints. It has been speculated that these tattoos may have been related to pain relief treatments similiar to   acupuncture. If so, this is at least 2000 years before their previously known earliest … (8 comments)

acupuncture: Understanding Pain - Considerations by your acupuncture friend: - 04/03/11 06:02 AM

Understanding Pain   -   Considerations by your acupuncture friend:
http://ctacupuncture.com
Let's do a quick overview from naiveté to enlightenment, shall we?
In 5 easy steps:
1. You are comfortable, innocent, and young - and this is a shallow and  tenuous, conditional, and temporary avoidance of pain.
2. When change happens, you feel sadness as the familiar goes, and fear as the unfamiliar approaches. All changes, all people feel this. Bigger fear when you resist death, losses, and undesirable events. Now you feel nervous, anxious, fidgety, restless and concerned. This unsuccessful avoidance of suffering is the beginning of dis-ease.
3. Resisting sadness and fear … (0 comments)

This is my First Blog Post - HELP!  And I'm Excited!
My sister, Dagny Eason, just introduced me to Active Rain, thinking that I, being an acupuncturist, will benefit.   I hope this will benefit others, also, as that is the focus of my practice.
I hope you all will find it cool that I, an acupuncturist, have joined your group here at Active Rain.   I have noticed that Active Rain bloggers really seem to help each other and enjoy that, which is why I am so impressed and interested in joining.  It is fun to read your articles and … (6 comments)
