funny: Scary Sink - 06/03/10 11:59 AM
Sometimes a home inspector just has to have a little fun.  With all these foreclosures, short sales and vacant houses we come across some interesting things.  Sometimes things are stolen or missing or disconnected.  I came across something like that and had a little fun with it.  I hope it gives you a little laugh, or maybe a big laugh...

funny: Look What I Found at a Foreclosure Home Inspection - 03/24/09 10:45 AM
I would estimate that 80 - 90% of the home inspections we perform are vacant, usually foreclosures or short sales.  Unfortunately many of them are left in very bad condition, making for extra long inspections.  Some people take a sledge hammer to everything they see, some let their pets run wild and leave little presents behind, some leave personal items behind... and luckily there are also those decent people who leave the house in nice condition.
Anyway, I saw something I had never seen before the other day during a home inspection.  Look at the picture below... but be forewarned, the image … (10 comments)

funny: Crying Out for a Home Inspection - 02/10/09 10:17 AM
Sometimes there are certain things we find during a home inspection that just "cries" out for our services.

The roof was definitely crying out for some repair.

The tree was defintely crying out for some more room.  How dare that house creep up on it like that!

And I don't know what they are crying out for, and I don't think I want to know...

funny: Privacy, Who Needs Privacy? (A Home Inspection Blog) - 08/28/08 03:08 PM
Is privacy really that important?  Here in California we have walls to surround our backyards and even half walls in the front yards to separate ourselves.  We have caller ID so we can scan our incoming calls and we have *67 so no one knows who we are when we're calling.  Well, yesterday at an inspection I discovered someone who was obviously fed up with all the privacy.  I'd even dare to say their house was a complete revolt against privacy.

Here's a picture I took that shows just how much they hate privacy.

So who's going to join this trend?  … (12 comments)

funny: Do You Have a Tired Evaporative Cooler? - 04/01/08 01:06 PM
Sometimes during a home inspection I see things that just make me laugh.  I came across this and just had to share it with everyone. I guess the evaporative cooler was overworked and underpaid and just had to sit down and take a rest.  We all need that every once in a while, right?
