Ottawa Real Estate - DNA of a Real Estate Agent - 02/23/12 01:18 PM
I was asked the other day what was the DNA of a real estate agent?  Interesting question - so here's what I think.
1.  Truly wanting and enjoying helping others.
2.  Accessability.
3.  Accountability.
4.  Communication.
5.  Knowledge.
6.  Experience.

Its important for potential sellers and buyers to ensure that they get the best possible real estate working for them whenever they purchase or sell a property.  Just because they worked with Uncle Tom or your best friend, doesn't mean that they are suited to be YOUR real estate agent.  Don't be shy, ask the questions, listen to the answers … (5 comments)

Inexpensive ways - 02/20/12 10:07 AM
Trim the shrubs...Give them a good trim so they aren't overgrown. This is also a safety issue as overgrown bushes give burglars a place to hide.Paint the shutters...Vinyle shutters will fade and painted will peel. You can add spray paint made for vinyl and a few cans of paint for wood makes a world of difference

OTTAWA REAL ESTATE - Low offers - 02/17/12 07:10 AM
When is it a good idea to make a low offer?

1.  If the property has been on the market for a while and there has been very little activity and no offers.
2.  If the property has been empty for a while.
3.  If the price has been reduced several times.

This is a great opportunity to come in and make a low offer (not an insulting offer) and see what happens.  Sometimes, the seller is willing to negotiate and maybe in a rush to sell the property.  If not, then you can decide whether you wish to … (1 comments)

Ottawa Real Estate - Inspections - 02/17/12 07:01 AM
I went shopping with my granddaughter yesterday for her prom dress and we spent over 3 hours, looking, selecting, trying, inspecting and ensuring that it was the right dress for her.
Home shopping usually takes less than 1 hour and if you decide to do a second visit (sometimes its a hot commodity and you are unable to do so) and you make your mind to put in an offer.  This is a huge investment and you take less than 3 hours to decide.  This is why an inspection by a professional home inspector is so important.  Someone that has construction … (0 comments)

While door knocking, I meet a couple that are thinking of downsizing and will be looking for a smaller property in the near future.  QUESTION?  Can I help you?  Nope we've got it under control.  Great I'll keep in touch!
A few weeks later, I see the house for sale by owner, give them a call and ask whether they would like to discuss potentially listing on MLS - Nope, we have it under control.  A couple of months go by, no offers and very litte showing appointments.  I contact them again, and they still … (1 comments)
