Overcoming the Fear of Public Speaking - 04/30/08 07:36 PM
I think most people have a fear of public speaking.
Did you know that the fear of public speaking can be overcome!
As you grow in your ability to be an effective speaker, you will have more opportunities to grow your business!
One good way is to to overcome that fear is to join your local Toastmasters club.  This is a safe place where you can practice giving speeches and receive encouragement.  You can take little baby steps and become a competent and effective speaker as you grow in this art of effective communication!
My husband and I have seen a … (18 comments)

Make Every Day Count - 04/29/08 02:37 PM

I recently heard of the death of a high school friend.
I was shocked with grief!  She was so young, vibrant and alive as a person.
I feel that we must continually tell our friends how much we love them.  Our words may be the last words they hear.
Take time to recognize, affirm, encourage and bless the close relationships that you have.
Your small investment will always produce huge returns!

Simple Staging Solutions on a Budget! - 04/29/08 12:44 PM
What do you do when your homeowner is strapped for cash and you need to do something simple to make a room or space stand out in a competitive market?
One of our clients recently asked for our help.  Even though the market has been challenging, she just knew she needed to do something quickly.  Her house was on the market, then taken off and then they were going to try one more time to sell this home.  Of course she was on a budget.  After our walk through, I was somewhat shocked when I saw the most amazing sight in … (35 comments)

The World Needs "Real People!" - 04/27/08 12:52 PM

I do a lot of public speaking and teaching these days for various organizations, large or small, including Realtor Associations, DIY Clinics and the City of Boise.  My listeners enjoy and laugh and when I tell them, "Will the Real People please step forward?  I don't have time to play games with the rest of you!"  At first, I thought perhaps it's my age and that I'm getting older.  I don't know about you, but I think life is too short to play games.
We were fortunate enough to finally coordinate our schedules to have a face to face marketing … (13 comments)

Finding the Gold! - 04/24/08 10:12 PM
Any Goldminer will tell you how many rocks, pebbles and sand they had to sift through to find Gold!
In my marketing experience, I look for creative ways to find the "Gold" clients among the average clients.
I persevere and look at new things that I have not thought of before.  I have quiet thinking times and think about my target market.  Where do they go?  What do they read?  Where do they shop?  What movies do they see?  What do they look like?
Then depending on my target answers I look and research what they read.  What organizations do they belong … (4 comments)

How much of a Pack-rat are you? - 04/20/08 02:58 PM

 Hi Active Rain Community,
I just thought I would mention that sometimes tests can be revealing for us.  It is like going to the doctor sometimes.  We don't want to do it, but it is necessary to find out if there really is something wrong with you or you are just stressed.  I thought I would mention that there is an actual quiz to determine whether you or your clients are actual Hoarders or Pack-rats.
I took this quick quiz.  It only had 15 simple revealing questions to determine where you are at on the scale of being a Pack-rat … (8 comments)

Simplicity! Part 2 - 04/20/08 02:11 PM
If you have too much stuff, Peter Walsh, a professional organizer on Oprah, gave a great tip.  Start small. with going through and throw away one bag of trash per day and give away one bag of stuff to your local thrift store.  By the end of the week you will have purged 14 bags of stuff out of your home.  Wow, that is doable!
Another thing you can do is look at your life and take stock of the activities you are doing. In order to go up, you need to give up.  Don't grab and get.  Release and receive.

Simplicity! Part 1 - 04/20/08 01:49 PM

It's Spring and a time for Spring Cleaning.  It seems like it has been a long winter.  I am ready for all of the glory, wonder, color and new life that comes with Spring.  I was thinking this morning as I worked out on my elliptical machine that I am making progress.  This winter was a time to recover from wrist surgery and I had to delay projects until I was better.  When you are a high energy person, you don't like to have limits!  However, I did not realize how much I needed this season to refresh and renew … (9 comments)

Don't be Afraid of Color's Power. There is no need to default to beige. - 04/07/08 09:26 PM

I want to share one of my mentor's insightful articles with you, by Margi Kyle.
Every time I teach a class or give a lecture on color, sheer panic comes over people's faces. Everyone seems scared to death of color.
Let's examine why.
Color makes a very strong statement. Color evokes emotion. There is power in a can of paint.
In selecting color in your rooms you always start with the shell, the floor and walls. In a new home, they sky is the limit - but most people still stick with boring beige.
Let's give the walls some … (2 comments)
