Congress is considering changes to the tax code in order to pay for a number of tax provisions expiring in 2010 and two of these provisions would impact real estate: The first would require all owners of rental properties to file IRS 1099 forms for all contractors they do business with if they pay that contractor $600 or more in any given year. This onerous provision would apply to even the smallest landlord. In addition, Congress is considering taxing "carried interest" at ordinary income rates instead of capital gains. As a current member of the Denver Board of Realtors, I am posting my thoughts on the changes happening in the real estate community of Denver.
For many years the Realtor community of Denver had only one avenue to promote and sell Denver homes online.

Search IRES and other Denver MLS "Distressed Properties"
In response to user requests, we have added the ability to search for Metrolist (and IRES) "Short Pay" and "Lender Owned/REO" listings on the Basic Criteria screen. Scroll down to find the "Distressed Properties" area on the right.
Additionally, we have added the "Style" search fields in the Exterior area (bottom left). All these fields are available on Listing Search, Hotsheets, Prospects and the Statistics screen.
Other resources: Realist, our Public Records provider added even more Foreclosure tools:
