2011 Huntsville Real Estate Predictions - 12/31/10 10:03 PM
2011 Huntsville Real Estate Predictions

I recently read an article on HGTV’s  Frontdoor website about the up and coming national housing trends for 2011 as well as several other market forecasts for the year by other reputable authors.

I wasn’t  surprised by many of the predictive forecasts but thought a more local viewpoint of the Huntsville area would add some value for regular readers. While the Huntsville Real Estate Market has certainly not been immune from the nation’s recent financial issues, we have performed better than many mid-sized and larger markets.
#1:  Housing recovery unlikely, but cautious optimism remains National: A market comeback … (3 comments)

A White Christmas for Huntsville Alabama - 12/28/10 10:14 PM

Many call the snow that fell in Huntsville Al Christmas day a Christmas miracle...I say we got lucky, lol.

For the many that call Huntsville home that were dreaming of a white Christmas, the odds were certainly not in their favor!  This Huntsville snow will go down in the record books as a “White Christmas”.  1989 is the only year that Huntsvillian's have experienced a snowfall worthy of measuring on Christmas, according to the Nashville Weather Service.   It has only snowed 4 times in the past 10 years, but truly only 2 snowfalls brought bragging rights.  This was … (13 comments)

Christmas Memories.....another one for my memory bank! - 12/26/10 08:09 PM

Merry Christmas!

Our Christmas is rolled into tradition after tradition.   Yesterday marked the 48th Christmas we have all been together as a family.  Out of my 51 years, I’d say we are lucky!

We left Huntsville Wednesday, heading to my Aunt and Uncles house in Beavercreek Ohio, outside of Dayton.  A car FULL of happy travelers and packed to the gills with presents.  Squeezed in between somewhere, were 2 happy dogs,  Lily the Pug, my mom’s fearless leader and Gus the … (9 comments)

Holiday Movie Trivia...just in case you wondered! - 12/24/10 10:01 PM

Holiday Movie Trivia!

Miracle on 34th Street-Did you know this movie was originally released in May?  It became an Academy award winner, in spite of the release date.
Miracle on 34th Street was a flop at the box office originally.  Not until TV sets became popular did the film soar!

It’s a Wonderful Life-The original star was to be Cary Grant, not Jimmy Stewart.  Also,  effects departments routinely used corn flakes painted white as snow. However, as actors walked through the "corn snow," the crunching of the flakes was so loud that dialog couldn't be recorded.   … (16 comments)

Christmas Lights in Huntsville Al - 12/24/10 02:59 PM

The Best Christmas Light Displays in Huntsville Al!

With Christmas in full swing, looking at the many gorgeous Christmas lights in Huntsville is a large part of the celebration.

One of our family traditions is to torture the men in our family and drive for hours looking at the gorgeous lights...we (the women) just know they secretly love doing this but are too afraid to admit it, lol.  We all pile into one car.  It's a tight squeeze but oh so worth it!

What you focus on expands - 12/19/10 11:14 PM

A time of reflection and a time of planning.

2010 was a wild ride for me.  I opened my own company, @Homes Realty Group.  I’m embarrassed to say that I had NO clue where I was headed when my doors opened.  The only thing I knew for sure was that it would work.

If you believe in the positive, it will come naturally.  If you believe in the negative, that too will come.  I focus on the positive and try to surround myself with positive people.  I have hired positive minded agents.  It works.

@ Homes Realty Group gives back. - 12/13/10 10:17 PM

Meet the @Homes Realty agents. Who are they?  Givers.  Period.  When I opened @ Homes Realty Group,  the only thing I new for sure is that the Huntsville Realtors that worked with me would be givers.  Period.  Quite simple really.  I believe that “anyone” can sell a house.  With enough education and training, a Realtor® can be successful, in one form or another.  On the other hand, I believe a kind and loving heart can’t be taught.  People have the desire to love and give back, or they don’t.

The Chef Next Door Huntsville Al - 12/12/10 11:05 PM

If you are looking for a personal chef in Huntsville Al, I highly recommend Chef Margaret Hale from The Chef Next Door.

I hired Margaret to come into my home last night for our first annual @ Homes Realty Group end of the year party.   I’m so appreciative of my agents and wanted to do something really special for them.  I wanted to spoil myself a bit too, lol.

From the moment I called The Chef Next Door, I knew I was going to be in for a big treat.  There were 10 guests and I … (5 comments)

Where to buy a Christmas Tree in Huntsville Al - 12/06/10 04:38 PM

Christmas is a time of wonderful traditions, from Gingerbread house’s and Christmas Carole's, to Candy Canes and Mistletoe.  My favorite of all traditions is the Christmas Tree.

Many of us have traditions that run generations deep in our families.  Since I can remember, we would buy the largest “real” tree we could find and it was a family event.  An event I remember with warmth to this day and a tradition that is now being carried on through my children.

With Christmas fast approaching, it is time to trek out an find that perfect tree.  Grab the … (2 comments)
