On a beautiful, sunny, spring day, a stroll through the shops and restaurants is rejuvenating.  Why rejuvenating?  Well, because there are so many interesting shops and things to see in downtown Valparaiso, Indiana that it forces you to slow down for a bit and stop to look and enjoy.

If low maintenance living is what you are looking for, then the community of North Hampstead is a must-see on your list.  All exterior maintenance of the courtyard homes are included in the Homeowners Associations dues.

Is There Too Much Theology in the Church Today? 
Many think there is.  The trend today seems to going toward less and less actual theology in the church.  Is this a good thing?
Absolutely not!  Watered-down theology is absolutely the opposite way of where the church should be heading.  How can we know truth if we don't even know what is in the Bible?  How do we recognize false prophets if we don't know the Word of God?

As some of you already know, my husband is a corporate pilot.  That means he does a lot of traveling all around the world, stays at hotels, eats at different restaurants, and flies business jets that someone else owns and maintains.  The worst part about his job is that he gets paid to do this!

Lemonade Day!
How many of you remember having a Lemonade Stand when you were young?  I never did but my daughter sure did.  She sold lemonade and homemade cookies whenever we had a garage sale.  This was our way of involving her and she had her own money when it was all over and done with. 
Today, I realized that there is an official Lemonade Day on May 2, 2010 to encourage kids to get involved in their community by having a Lemonade Stand.  This sounds like so much fun.  If only I could be a kid again!

St. Andrews Square in Valparaiso, Indiana is a beautiful structure built in 1902 as St. Andrews Episcopal Church.  Even though the building still looks very much like a church, it has been renovated into 1 and 2 bedroom condominiums. 
Jake Wagner, developer, was able to keep the stained glass and looks of the St. Andrews Episcopal Church while rebuilding the inside.  Can you imagine what it must be like to have the light shining in through your very own stained glass onto your hardwood floors?

The Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum is one of the many educational and fun museums in Chicago.  In just one week, their new hands on exhibition "Planet Explorers" opens on March 26. 
The fun starts by exploring earth in a Frank Lloyd Wright inspired home and then space as part of a Mission Control team.  Then the exploration continues on Planet X, in a galaxy far, far away.  Doesn't that sound like quite an adventure?

I spent an evening at Molly Bea's yesterday along with about 30 other people. 
Since yesterday was the 3rd Thursday of the month, that means it was time for the monthly class at Molly Bea's Ingredients in Chesterton, Indiana. The topic was "Fondant Fun" and fun it was!  There were even some men in the class that were sweet enough to accompany their wives and the men were asking questions by the end of the class.

This morning I start my day with a Tribute to the Military.  Even though my husband and I are both veterans of the US Air Force, it's easy to get comfortable in our everyday lives.  We forget that there are soldiers still out fighting and protecting the freedom that we have in the United States.  To my nephew who is a Marine stationed in Japan and all military personnel stationed throughout the world, I thank you for your service each and every day.

TruGreen has been here so it must be spring in Valparaiso, Indiana!  YAY! 
Springtime used to be overwhelming to me when it came to yard maintenance.  Since my husband, Mark. is a pilot with an unpredictable work schedule, sometimes the lawn care falls on my shoulders.  That includes mowing, weeding, flower beds, shrubs, etc. 
I love walking barefoot on green, healthy grass.  There's just something about the feel of cool, damp grass on my feet.  Keeping my lawn healthy and weed-free in Valparaiso, Indiana was something that used to seem impossible for me until I let TruGreen take over!

When does the day end? 
Sometimes it feels like it never does.  I have my list of things to get done for each day.  Do I get to all of them?  Not always.  Priorities change and unexpected things come up.  Sometimes things just have to get put off until the following day.  Setting priorities is important.  Knowing when to stop working and spend some quality family time or time for yourself is just as important.

There are many lessons that can be learned from a cat.  Have you ever spent time watching cats go through their day?  Sometimes I think they have a better idea when it comes to enjoying life than we do.

Have you noticed that some ideas are not always good ideas?  Sometimes I have to wonder why someone would have some things in their homes.  At the Home & Garden Show in Valparaiso, Indiana this weekend, I came across one thing that I really had to ask myself, "Now why would anyone want that in their home?"

What do you think?  I watched several people walk by and they seemed a bit surprised by a sink on a toilet.   I don't think they sold too many this weekend.

Spring is in the air finally in Valparaiso, Indiana!  Most of our snow is gone and before long it'll be time to start mowing again. 
It's time to start thinking of planting a vegetable garden this year.  Do you have any suggestions on what to try?  I've tried tomatoes and zucchini in the past with some decent results.  Is eggplant difficult to grow?  Have you tried it? 
I'm definitely planting some herbs again.  I cannot wait to have fresh basil, bay leaves, thyme, and mint.  Oh, I love that spring is in the air Valparaiso, Indiana!

Why are people in the United States so complacent about the Bible?  I find this extremely sad and heartbreaking.  Why is it  that for many who criticize the truths in the Bible have not even bothered to study it for themselves?
Even in churches all around, there is less and less actual Bible teaching from the Word itself.  There is something very wrong with that.  Don't we go to law school to study about law?  Medical students go to medical school before practicing medicine and real estate agents take real estate related courses.  So why are so few churches teaching from the actual Bible … (6 comments)
