Rachmaninov Piano Concerto for Trombone - 03/29/10 06:40 AM
Rachmoninoff Rachmaninov Piano Concerto for Trombone For all who have played an instrument in an symphony orchestra or band you know the excitement of learning a new piece of music, performing, and hearing the applause at the end. Classical music by the masters of hundreds of years ago are still appreciated by audiences young and old. Now if you are a wind player in a symphony orchestra you also realize that not all parts written for your instrument may be as exciting or challenging as others. In fact, you get very, VERY good at counting...rests! Yes, those times when you have

Are you spending too much time on the small things in the home inspection report? - 03/24/10 08:59 AM
I've always been a big advocate of pre-listing inspections and this blog from Russel Ray, home inspector, confirms why this could save some big headaches getting to a closing. Comments have been disabled so you can comment on Russel's site. Via Russel Ray, San Diego home inspector (Russel Ray, Property Consultant): These past two weeks were Seller disclosure weeks for me. In fact, Seller disclosures with useful information on them seem to be becoming the norm around here. Imagine that. Three separate Sellers disclosed that they were having problems getting conditioned air to specific rooms. Can you see why?

Is There Too Much Theology in the Church Today? - 03/23/10 10:22 PM
Is There Too Much Theology in the Church Today? Many think there is. The trend today seems to going toward less and less actual theology in the church. Is this a good thing? Absolutely not! Watered-down theology is absolutely the opposite way of where the church should be heading. How can we know truth if we don't even know what is in the Bible? How do we recognize false prophets if we don't know the Word of God? This video gives a good perspective on the subject. DugDownDeep_Carnahan.mov from Covenant Life Church on Vimeo.

A Gift From Hawaii As some of you already know, my husband is a corporate pilot. That means he does a lot of traveling all around the world, stays at hotels, eats at different restaurants, and flies business jets that someone else owns and maintains. The worst part about his job is that he gets paid to do this! Have I managed to get you to feel sorry for him yet? Didn't think so! Actually, he loves what he does and I don't think he'd be happy doing anything else. God has blessed him with a great job flying airplanes for

Lemonade Day! - 03/22/10 02:38 PM
Lemonade Day! How many of you remember having a Lemonade Stand when you were young? I never did but my daughter sure did. She sold lemonade and homemade cookies whenever we had a garage sale. This was our way of involving her and she had her own money when it was all over and done with. Today, I realized that there is an official Lemonade Day on May 2, 2010 to encourage kids to get involved in their community by having a Lemonade Stand. This sounds like so much fun. If only I could be a kid again! I sure hope

St. Andrews Square In Valparaiso, Indiana - 03/20/10 10:46 PM
St. Andrews Square in Valparaiso, Indiana is a beautiful structure built in 1902 as St. Andrews Episcopal Church. Even though the building still looks very much like a church, it has been renovated into 1 and 2 bedroom condominiums. Jake Wagner, developer, was able to keep the stained glass and looks of the St. Andrews Episcopal Church while rebuilding the inside. The fun starts by exploring earth in a Frank Lloyd Wright inspired home and then space as part of a Mission Control team. Then the exploration continues on Planet X, in a galaxy far, far away. Tips for Remodeling in Any Market - 03/15/10 07:48 PM

Via Integrity Mortgage Funding: When the housing market's hot, it seems like just about anyremodeling project is a good investment and adds value to your home. But when the market is tight, you want to be more selective about which projects you undertake, and know what you stand to gain in return. So whether you've been thinking about boosting your home's value, its curb appeal, or just making your living space more comfortable for you

I Refuse to Think of Myself as Old! - 03/15/10 07:15 PM
I refuse to think of myself as old! I won't go there no matter what others try to tell me. I strongly believe that a person is only old if they think of themselves of being old. That is one reason I will not even open all those offers I get in the mail from AARP. I guess I'm afraid that if I admit that I am old enough to have an AARP card, then I'll start feeling that way. When Does the Day End? - 03/15/10 06:52 PM
When does the day end? Sometimes it feels like it never does. I have my list of things to get done for each day. Do I get to all of them? Not always. Priorities change and unexpected things come up. Sometimes things just have to get put off until the following day. Setting priorities is important. Knowing when to stop working and spend some quality family time or time for yourself is just as important. The most significant part of my day is my quiet time in prayer and bible study. It should not surprise me (but it still does) that

Lessons Learned From a Cat - 03/10/10 01:57 PM
There are many lessons that can be learned from a cat. Have you ever spent time watching cats go through their day? Sometimes I think they have a better idea when it comes to enjoying life than we do. For instance: If it's a sunny day, they lay in the sunshine and enjoy it. If they are sleepy, they nap where ever they happen to be at the time. If they're hungry, they eat whatever happens to be around and they don't seem to worry about calories. If they want attention, they give you so much attention that you can't help

Complacent About the Bible - 03/01/10 02:40 PM
Why are people in the United States so complacent about the Bible? I find this extremely sad and heartbreaking. Why is it that for many who criticize the truths in the Bible have not even bothered to study it for themselves? Even in churches all around, there is less and less actual Bible teaching from the Word itself. There is something very wrong with that. Don't we go to law school to study about law? Medical students go to medical school before practicing medicine and real estate agents take real estate related courses. So why are so few churches teaching from the actual Bible
