In the newspaper last week we read that home sales are up in St Lucie/Treasure Coast area.  With 4 % increase in the numbers of sales for the month of February 2008 compared to the sales in February 2007.  However the median sales price of the homes has dropped from $ 239,000 in 2007 to $172,900.  What does this actually mean?  Are buyers seeking out lower priced homes and are the higher priced homes just sitting on the market?  Or have home prices actually fallen so drastically.  It seems to be a bit of both.  Our prices are down considerably but … (6 comments)

Florida Home Buyers Still on the Sidelines??? - 03/11/08 07:16 PM
Numbers are not in as yet for February but January numbers show a comparison between 2007 and 2008 sales.  In January 2007 in St Lucie County there were 252 single family homes sold and 51 condos.  In January 2008 there were 200 single family homes sold and 44 condos.  a 27% reduction. But it is not to say sales are flat, perhaps just more to the norm. 
The prices are another item.  The single family home price dropped from a median price of $241,000 in 2007 to $175,300 in 2008.  That is a drop of 21%.  Condos fairly better with median … (1 comments)

Foreclosures Hitting Record Highs in St Lucie County - 03/05/08 06:01 AM
In past years the average number of foreclosures in St Lucie County, Florida was 45 -50.  In January the numbers rose to an all time high of 715 foreclosure filed.  The Circuit Court is adding an additional evening shift to handle the work load.  Per the Clerk of the Courts, Edward Fry Jr. "The case load has just become horrendous..." 
Attempts to just work Saturdays to keep up proved futile so the additional evening shift was added.  The current employees will work the extended evening hours with overtime pay which is said to be less expensive than hiring and training new … (1 comments)

On an average Florida has seen constant growth in population.  For many years the average number was a growth of 1000 new residents per day.  Yes per day, not week, not month but per day.  Florida has had a strong growth even through periods of economic down turns.  It has had an annual rate of growth that exceeds most of the United States by 100 %.  With our current slow down that average has dropped by only 100 per day, to 900 new residents moving here per day.

What motivates each of us defends on our personalities, backgrounds, environment, etc.  Some of us are more susceptible to the weather for example.  A gray cloudy day puts us in a funk, a bright sunny day reflects in our mood and what we can accomplish that day.  To stay motived no matter what your peculiarities can be challenging.  What do you do to stay motivated?
