We often visit St. Pete Beach at sunset to see the awesome swath of color created by the setting sun across the Gulf of Mexico. Some evenings are absolutely breathtaking. In addition to the beaches, St. Pete Beach calls out to area residents to visit numerous restaurants which cater to both casual and upscale dining. It´s also a destination place for visiting specialty shops. Tourists find both luxury hotels, such as the DonCeSar and Tradewinds, and multiple mid-price range opportunities. The local residents have a wide variety of single family homes and condominiums to choose from. The intracoastal side of town offers both water and non-waterfront homes, all of which are within minutes of the beaches. The Gulf side contains multiple public beaches, a few single family homes, condominiums and commercial properties. Water views are available for everyone to enjoy! St Petersburg Florida. I love St. Pete (the locals shorten the name)! This is, in my opinion, one of the best places to live. Tampa Bay has professional sports (football, hockey and baseball), theater, world class museums, symphony, outstanding hospitals, two universities and numerous colleges, white sandy beaches (frequently named as the best beaches in the world), an international airport, multiple waterfront parks, upscale shopping, fine restaurants and wonderful weather. It's no wonder why this little city has grown so dramatically with all these features. Since St. Pete is a peninsula, we enjoy off shore breezes on both sides of the city. Housing opportunities vary from charming, historic homes to contemporary to townhomes to high rise condominiums. Among the numerous options are waterfront, golf course frontage and gated communities.
Pinellas County Area Photos I'd like to share some photos of a few areas: downtown St. Petersburg, St. Pete Beach, Clearwater, Ft. St Pete Beach, Florida
Welcome to St Pete Beach located directly on the Gulf of Mexico on the western edge of the Tampa Bay area. St Pete Beach is set on a six mile long key, which also includes the community of Pass-a-Grille which was the first established town on Florida's West Coast barrier islands and still retains its historic charm.
Don Cesar
A historic landmark on St Pete Beach is the famous Don CeSar Beach Resort which was reopened in 1973 . Don CeSar was built in 1928 . The depression hit the hotel very hard and in the early 40's, the government purchased the hotel and turned it into a hospital and rehabilitation center and in 1944 it became one of the first hurricane shelters. In 1945 the Regional Office of Veterans Administration was moved into the Don. In 1969, facing 3 million dollars in renovation, the government left the facility and the County was ready to tear it down. Due to an active citizens group, Mr. William Bowman bought the building and renovated it.
St Pete Beach as we know it today was formed in 1957 when the four towns of Pass-a-Grille, Don CeSar Place, Belle Vista Beach and St Pete Beach voted to consolidate. To find out more about the history visit the Gulf Beaches Historical Museum, housed in a 1917 former church, which traces the history of Pinellas County's barrier islands all the way back to when Ponce de Leon first encountered them in the 14th century.

Shell Key, a small barrier island just south of Pass-a-Grille and St Petersburg Beach features dynamic sand dunes and beaches. Shell Key remains one of the last pristine barrier islands in Florida, providing ideal habitat for more than 100 species of nesting, migrating and wintering seabirds and shorebirds. The island is accessible only by boat.
Numerous condominiums and single family homes are located on St. Pete Beach. The variety of properties is endless, ranging from brand new to old charm. I use Skype for visiting family and friends around the world, computer to computer; however, I can also call computer to telephone. With the use of a relatively inexpensive camera I can see and speak with my grandson daily on my computer. He knows my voice and recognizes my face even though there are many months between visits. Skype has enabled me to watch him grow these past 18 months and to be a part of his life. We've encouraged many of our friends to use it and are pleased to see how amazed they are at the benefits. All our computer to computer calls are totally free!!! If we want to call computer to telephone, the fee is $.02 per minute worldwide, which is also quite inexpensive. Skype is now owned by eBay with over 100 million people using it. It sounds unbelievable and it is, but it's true. Try it once and you will not be able to live without it. We use it both personally and professionally. Visit www.skype.com to get started.
I've recently learned of a fantastic opportunity to call my family overseas via our cell phones. The process is through REBTEL (visit www.rebtel.com for instructions). The cost is the cost of your local cell phone minutes plus $1.00/week of use. You pay only for one week periods that you want to use. So, the maximum would be $52.00/year. I call my family members overseas (cell phone to cell phone) and we chat for as long as we want and all I pay is $1.00 for the week of calls (plus my local minutes). My husband wanted to check the ingredients for a special receipe today so called our son-in-law in Sweden for the instructions. Since we already called them yesterday, there was no additional charge to speak again today. This is so convenient and inexpensive. What a great way to contact your overseas customers for a very little cost.
This fabulous city has changed drastically since I moved here in the early 1970's. It was called "Wrinkle City" back then (when CB's were today's cell phones). Today it is vibrant with a median age in the 30's, a major university (USF) and two outstanding colleges (St. Petersburg College and Eckerd College). I predict that our little penisula will eventually evolve into a city comparable to San Franciso. We have an awesome climate, are surrounded by warm waters, have major technology and financial companies headquartered here. We also have football (Tampa Bay Bucs), baseball (Devil Rays) and hockey (Lightening). How many communities can claim to have all these features? We are proud to advertise that we have 360 days of sunshine every year. Our beautiful Skyway bridge crosses Tampa Bay, giving us easy access to Bradenton and Sarasota. We adjoin Clearwater to the north and across the Howard Frankland bridge to Tampa. We have all the arts available, the Fine Arts Museum, the Dali Museum and the recently announced Chiluly museum will be coming soon. I am so happy that I was able to continue to live in this marvelous community and certainly would encourage others to check us out.
