Who am I? - 08/31/10 07:59 AM
Ask yourself this question can you answer it with authority?  So let me ask those of you who can't readily answer the question are you a great salesperson.  How about a great listing agent or buyer's agent. Do you keep your promises to your clients?  All of us have talents that we don't recognize.  You have talents work on perfecting them and then work on the talents you don't have.  It's a great day to buy or sell a home.

Don’t “argufy” with your fellow agents or clients. - 08/29/10 07:27 AM
Man I like this word.  I do this just to get a reaction from people.  I'm not bragging just fact I am good heck no I'm real good at this.  I only know of a few people that do this but when they are in the "grove" they are great.  I can just sit back and watch them for a long time.  The meaning of argufy: to argue about something merely for the sake of arguing.  Join wordsmith on Activerain.  It's a great day to buy or sell a home.

Do you need to work on your “proem”? - 08/28/10 06:04 AM
I do this on a consistence basis do you?  If not I bet this is one of the main reasons you don't get that listing or only have one visit with a buyer.  You only get one shot and if you miss they will come to me.  I do this every day and try to improve on it.  The meaning of proem: an introduction or preface.  You only get one time to make a first impression don't blow it.  Join wordsmith on Activerain.  It's a great day to buy or sell a home.

“Wallop” your fellow agents and clients… - 08/27/10 06:54 AM
I do this consistently and on a daily basis.  Do I win each and every battle?  I would like to say without hesitation yes but that doesn't work either.  Do I ever give up bet your life I don't?  I go down fighting with my last breath.  You may ask why because I believe I'm the best and there's no reason to call or interview another agent.    The meaning of wallop for this blog: to defeat overwhelmingly.  Now go wallop your fellow agents because you're the best.  Join wordsmith on Activerain.  It's a great day to buy or sell a home.

Be a “telamon” in your clients walk through the real estate transaction(s). - 08/26/10 06:12 AM
When you stood up in front of the other agents with your local board and raised your right hand you swore an oath.  To that end you owe this to your clients.  I'm currently working through a mess and am trying to work things out with the seller and buyer but I think this one is a lost cause.  I will however continue to work with them until I have ran the course.  The meaning of telamon: a supporting column in the form of a man's figure.  Be that supporting column for your client.  Walk them through the process of selling … (1 comments)

“Uncinate” your clients… - 08/25/10 06:25 AM
You'll like this one.  It's like the macerate one I used a while back.  If you can do this you can get more sellers and buyers.  It's a simple concept but how you do it is up to you.  I have my methods and the possibilities are endless on how you do this.  The meaning of uncinate: bent like a hook; hooked.  Hook your clients with the method of your choosing.  I use the phone and letter writing what's your method?  Join wordsmith on Activerain.  It's a great day to buy or sell a home.

Thank you for the new word, kind of difficult to say. I will use it 3 times today. - 08/24/10 08:14 AM
I write blogs using words not associated with real estate and turn them into usage associated with something in real estate.  Anyway the other day I wrote a blog and another agent wrote the caption for this blog.  When I first read it I thought of Dr. Seuss and his books.  How many times do you use words not readily associated with real estate in your everyday transactions? “Spur” your clients into action. - 08/24/10 05:59 AM
Everyone has one and the job for you is to find it in your clients.  Most of you know the common analogy of spur is something cowboys tied onto boots and used it to get the horse moving.  Another common thought is bone spurs.  The kind of spur I'm looking for is the meaning I took from it and that is: anything that urges stimulus to action.  The action is for your clients to act on either listing the home or accepting a good or reasonable offer.  So tie on your spurs and get to work.  Join wordsmith on Activerain.  It's … (9 comments)

Thanks for asking I’m “tolerable”. - 08/23/10 06:33 AM
I'm a fan of old movies especially war movies.  I've watched some of them so much I can quote a lot of them verbatim.  One of my favorites is Sergeant York.  For those of you who haven't seen it I suggest you do so.  It has a lot of things that America once stood for but has lost.  One of the lines was when a person asked York played by Gary Cooper how he was York replied "tolerable".  So the meaning of tolerable is: in reasonable good health.  So I ask you how's your business is it tolerable?  Join wordsmith on … (5 comments)

Talk to your clients to make them “patency”. - 08/22/10 07:43 AM
Wouldn't be nice if every client or agent was to do this?  It would make our job so much easier.  Some agents that are sitting on the sideline might even enjoy coming to work.  I know it would make me work even harder than I do but do you think this is really going to happen?  We can only hope so and the meaning of patency: the state of being open or unobstructed.  From the first contact strive to have this happen with your clients.  Try and make them understand they may need to adjust the price of their home in … (3 comments)

This is a good one.  You do this without thinking and you do this on a daily basis.  So tell me do you do this and if not why not it's your job.  I constantly think of this and I do this all the time.  My mind is in motion and its thinking of this for my clients or my future business.  The meaning of soever: in any way to any extent to all of those possible including who, what, when, where and how.  This word weather you knew it or not should be the one word you remember the rest … (3 comments)

Go forth and seek clients in the “fossa” area. - 08/20/10 07:12 AM
I do this on a consistent basis and I wonder do you.  This is not easy to do and sometimes it's downright frustrating to the point of why bother.  I do this because it has brought me sales and referrals.  Most agents pass over these and I take advantage of the situation. You might ask what fossa well its meaning is: a cavity, pit or small hollow.  Don't overlook those clients or property that are small (not a lot of money) they know people who know people and the referrals keep coming.  But hey if you're in NW Arkansas or SW … (6 comments)

Success is a choice… - 08/19/10 10:46 AM
So there you are living day to day wondering when the next person is going to call you to list their property.  You might be lying on the couch feeling sorry for yourself because the sell you thought was (in the bag) fell through.  Are you thinking of giving up and going to get a "real" job?  Please do so because I need the extra work.  If you were paid minimum wage for all the hours you put into this business you would not need to worry about the listing or the sell because you would be rolling in money.  Want … (8 comments)

Do some of your clients and fellow agents commit “calumnies”? - 08/18/10 06:10 AM
I haven't had this happen to me by my clients (present and past) or by my fellow agents.  In my past profession I certainly have had it happen to me on more times than I care to admit, none of which I was guilty of.  But any way I hope this has not happened to you as I know all agents are (should be) above reproach.  The meaning of calumnies is: a false and malicious statement meant to hurt someone's reputation.  In some States this may be grounds for a civil suit, one or two of these could zip the lip … (2 comments)

Are your clients or fellow agents “obstreperous”? - 08/17/10 06:29 AM
This rule applies to everyone.  No one is exempt however some may be grandfathered in but certain rules apply.  Whenever rules change you will find these people.  I've did this in the past but I found it is better to role with the punches than do this.  The meaning of obstreperous is:  noisy, boisterous, or unruly, resisting or opposing.  Of course the portion of the meaning I'm concerned with is resisting or opposing.  I'm sure the noisy, boisterous or unruly rule does not apply with any clients or agents.  If you're trying to make addendums to the contract are some of … (3 comments)

Are some of your contracts on “quaky” ground - 08/16/10 06:00 AM
I know when I started in this business I needed guidance as I was trying to fill out the documents using terminology I used in law enforcement.  I quickly found out the words that were common to me were foreign to real estate.  It took me awhile to adjust so don't let your contracts be on quaky ground and the meaning is: inclined to quake; shaky.  Place your contracts on solid ground and enjoy the day.  Join wordsmith on Activerain.  It's a great day to buy or sell a home.

This happens to me all the time.  I have a listing appointment and bring all the information to the table and at the last minute this happens.  Just recently I had a contract that was worked out prior to the document being written.  The contract was signed by the buyers and presented to the seller.  I received a call from the seller and this happened.  The meaning of trope: a turning or changing.  My clients change their mind all the time.  Join wordsmith on Activerain.  It's a great day to buy or sell a home

Are you a “legate” on a “legation”? - 08/14/10 06:47 AM
I know this is the first time I've used this double new word but they are needed to give this information meaning.  When we take a listing, deliver a contract have a client sign any documents we are in essence doing this.  Consider the meaning when you are filling out the documents as you are libel for the document.  The meaning of legate: an envoy or ambassador and legation: the act of sending a legate on a mission.  You are representing your agency and the State is giving you permission to fill in the blank section of an official document commonly … (7 comments)

Our mindset will defeat the storms of the market… - 08/09/10 07:57 AM
Every wonder how agents stay in the market when it's down.  Are you one of those agents?  I can tell you from experience for me it was my mindset.  My broker said I could do it and I believed it.  So have you let your mindset go to your mind?  Little play on words but it's so true if you come to work with the mindset you'll fail well guess what you will.  In this crazy market without the proper mindset you will not make it.  It's a great day to buy or sell a home.

When you graduated from school did you notice the “cachet”? - 08/08/10 07:52 AM
I had other words and phrases for what I held in my hand when I graduated from high school.  I looked at that document many times since then and the same for other documents I've held since that time not so long ago.  If you look at your driver's license it's on there but the most important document that has this cachet is your pocket card or your license wherever you hang it.  The meaning of cachet: a seal or stamp on an official letter or document.  Show it with pride as you've earned it.  Join wordsmith on Activerain.  It's a … (0 comments)
