centerton ar real estate: “Pavane” after a closing!!! - 12/21/10 06:30 AM
You know I am amazed each time I open my Webster's© and start reading.  The book never ceases to amaze and educate me.  As a result I try and educate other agents and the public as I post a new word.  So at the end of a closing "pavane" but not in front of your clients or other agents cause sunshine they will think you're crazy.  Sorry almost forgot the meaning of (pe van') to strut, walk like a peacock.  So strut your stuff and have a good time.  Join wordsmith on Activerain.  Enjoy the day it may be your last.

centerton ar real estate: Have you known or know someone who is “icono-clast”? - 12/18/10 06:25 AM
Well I hate to admit it but yes I have known and still know these people.  Personally I think it's a blow to the American way of life.  But on the other hand if we did not have these types of people we would still be stuck in the 1600's and I for one would like to go back and see it but I would not want to live in that time.  Medical reasons you know at my age it would not be good.  Anyway the meaning of (I kan' e klast') one who attacks and seeks to destroy widely accepted … (4 comments)

centerton ar real estate: May “duplicity” stay away from your door. - 12/16/10 06:08 AM
Surely there have been some agents who have done this.  Gladly I can say I haven't known any and I keep my fingers crossed.  I can tell you one thing though if I do know one I'm not walking I'm running in the opposite direction.  The meaning of (doo plis' e te) hypocritical cunning or deception; double-dealing.  What I can't understand is why an agent would do this and place his career in jeopardy.  Join wordsmith on Activerain it's a hoot!!!

centerton ar real estate: May you be the “chasseur” in your agency? - 12/15/10 07:51 AM
I don't know about you but I know I'm trying to get there.  Haven't made it yet but I keep trying.  May you beat me to this plateau but only if you're not in my agency.  Just one year of being this and I would be a happy camper.  The meaning of (sha sur') a hunter troops trained for rapid action.  May you be the hunter of those listings and rapid action for getting those buyers.  As the New Year approaches may 2011 be your best.  Join wordsmith on Activerain.

centerton ar real estate: Turn the lights on!!! - 12/13/10 05:39 AM
While I was in law enforcement one of the exercises we went through was this.  The instructor told us there was a violent felon in the room and he (she) was armed.  It was our duty to enter the room and take the suspect into custody or use whatever force necessary to assure the arrest.  We entered the room and found it to be dark as dark can get.  As we were stumbling around shots rang out and most of us succumbed to our injuries as a result.  That's when the instructor flipped on the light switch which was located next … (10 comments)

centerton ar real estate: Don’t be “flaccid” around clients other agents or for that fact anyone. - 12/10/10 06:32 AM
I know I just know people are looking at this one and scratching their heads thinking is this what I think it is.  My smile is about as big as it gets as I'm writing this post.  I can see the thoughts racing through your minds.  As a part of my training from my previous job I can assure you I do not do this at all.  The meaning of (flak' sid) lacking force; weak; feeble.  Don't seem weak around your clients they will think you're the same way when trying to market their property or finding them a home.  Wordsmith … (9 comments)

centerton ar real estate: Don’t “elision” your contracts. - 12/09/10 06:28 AM
My fellow post readers I can assure you I have (not that I recall) never been accused of this.  I seen some contracts that I would question not trying to say that an agent would but it takes all kinds.  I truly dislike trying to be politically correct but that's another post.  Anyway the meaning of (e lizh' en) any act or instance of leaving out or omitting a part or parts.  Don't leave out anything on your contracts it may make one wonder what else you're trying to leave out.  Join wordsmith on Activerain.

I don't have one of these but I wish I had.  It would come in handy right now and make me feel better.  If need be I would give this to my wife would you?  With my head count (not) it sure would feel good on y old bald head.  The meaning of (ke pot') a long cloak, usually with a hood.   With the weather turning it would be nice so tell me who's the weather in your neck of the woods?  Join wordsmith on Activerain

centerton ar real estate: Booze and cigarettes can't live with and can't live without them - 12/06/10 06:29 AM
Now I don't know about you but back in the days when you had a drink you had a cigarette.  Many the times I did it.  Just think of all the money I could have saved and all the hangovers I could have avoided.  Now this is what happens when you consume a little too much.

Enjoy the day it may be your last.

centerton ar real estate: “Debouch” you fellow agents. - 12/03/10 06:26 AM
I know I know we are independent contractors but hang on a minute.  Even as independent contractors we had to start somewhere.  Someone had to show us the ropes and take our hand for the first several months (in my case the first 18 months).  Afterwards I have helped several new agents and enjoy when someone asks me a question.  If I do not have a ready answer I research until I find one.  The meaning of (de boosh') to come forth; emerge.  Help the newbie's and maybe you will be amazed on what you know that you thought you didn't.  … (4 comments)

centerton ar real estate: May “unction” follow you the rest of your life? - 11/29/10 06:03 AM
Again from my family to yours may you have unction in your life.  After 29 years in law enforcement my stress level is very high and my temper short or so it was.  After leaving I found my temper to be getting longer and the stress level has definitely gone down.  After having the stress level I was accustom to I could not understand the stress of someone buying a home at times I still don't understand but I guess it's all relevant.  Anyway the meaning of (unk' shen) anything that soothes or comforts.  May you have unction in your listings … (8 comments)

centerton ar real estate: Don’t make your conversation “tautology”. - 11/21/10 06:17 AM

Now don’t get me wrong I’ve done this and looking back on occasion I still do.  But in its defense sometimes you need to do this to get your point across.  Some people need this before they understand what you’re saying because it does not take the first time and you need to turn the light switch on.  The meaning of (to tal’ e je) needless repetition of an idea in a different word, phrase or sentence: redundancy.  Join wordsmith on Activerain.

centerton ar real estate: What do you see when you look into the “speculum”? - 11/20/10 07:24 AM

I know I see an ageless person.  Other people see different things but my mind is still in the age when I was 20-25 but my body is telling me another story.  I know I can’t keep up with the guys and gals as I once did.  I also know that all good things must come to an end but I don’t want to get off the ride yet.  The meaning of (spek’ yoo lem) a mirror, esp one of polished metal.  So tell me what is it you see in the mirror every morning?  Make it one of a … (3 comments)

centerton ar real estate: “Pathetic fallacy” will get you nowhere. - 11/17/10 05:49 AM
Ok folks of AR don’t get your shorts tied up over this. I never knew this word existed until I was scanning over Webster’s ©. Anyway I really don’t know anyone with this affliction but I know they exist. Since I don’t have this problem I just can’t understand this problem. The meaning of (pe thet’ ik fal’ e se): the attribution of human feelings and characteristics to inanimate things such as a stubborn door or angry sea. Sorry I just don’t see it. Is there anyone out there that has this problem or know of anyone? Join wordsmith on Activerain … (11 comments)

centerton ar real estate: Keep all your paperwork in case of a “certiorari”. - 11/15/10 06:15 AM

Are you one of the agents who can and does lose paperwork on a daily basis?  Do you have trouble finding your files?  If so join the crowd and I’m proud to join your ranks.  I personally can fill out a contract and listing now and not miss a beat but keeping up with the paperwork after that is a daunting task for me.  The meaning of (sur’she e rer’ e) a discretionary writ from a higher court to a lower one, or to a board or official with some judicial power, requesting the record of a case for review.  … (7 comments)

centerton ar real estate: Don’t let your clients think you’re a “thaumaturge”? - 11/14/10 07:04 AM

WOOOHOOO!!! I found another one that is.  Agents do this all the time and I bet ya never thought about it at all.  Now the question is how you are going to use it either showing another agent how you know words they did not know existed or to use it with one of your clients.  I would like to hear from you on how you did it.  Now for the meaning of (turj) a person who supposedly works miracles; working wonders.  Love it just love it.  Join wordsmith on Activerain.
